KG- as I PM'd you yesterday, I had the chance to listen to Jake yesterday. We was asked specifically about the influence from AAU coaches including himself on players and how they are recruited. He mentioned that many young men are from homes with no parental involvement and he then assumes a mentor role. In other circumstances, there is a parent involved so he does not need to take up a parental role. He specifically mentioned that HB has a very strong parental influence in his mother and that she is steering the process, not him. I take him at his word based on his belief system.
For those of you concerned about the role that Christ is playing in his life and business, keep in mind that he is using this as a positive influence to many inner city Des Moines youth as well as his new program in Ghana. If his Christianity helps any young person that is adrift because of a lack of parental guidance, then I'm all for it.
Lastly, if it is his opinion that the style of play inhibits players, then that is what it is, his opinion and nothing else. He has an obligation to be true to his self as well as the parent and players that have been entrusted to him.
