Oscar Predictions for Tonight...

If he did that on live TV knowing everyone was watching, wouldn't be surprised to here some stories about what he has done in other situations when cameras weren't on.

Exactly. I'm wondering if he escalated or de-escalated on the way up. Was his original intention just to go up an interrupt and then he boiled over and decided to slap, or was he going up there with the intent to punch him but "cooled down" to a slap only. Not that it really matters.

I haven't either. It just seems horrible. Why would anyone have an interest in seeing a movie about an athlete's parent?

I found King Richard to be quite good and interesting, but that is just me. Maybe equally impressive to Will's performance was both the performance and tennis prowess of those little girl actresses. Those girls can ball.

So not knowing much about Will and Jada's lifestyle choices, did Chris and Jada get together at some point, and maybe that was an underlying bigger issue with Will?

It is possible, but I think Chris Rock is a family guy, too. I could be wrong.

What’s really a shame is that this event overshadows what turned out to be a pretty decent, diverse Oscars. We saw an openly queer actor of Puerto Rican-Black-Italian descent win an Oscar; a supporting actor award to a deaf actor, with screenwriting and best picture Oscars to the film he appeared in; and some really eloquent words by Jessica Chastain speaking out against the wave of repressive, anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ legislation sweeping across the nation. Even all the visual effects/cinematography love going to a film like Dune …

And instead of talking about that the next morning it’s all about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock. Thanks a lot, Will, for stealing everybody else’s thunder.

Right, wrong or indifferent, I was about to shut off the Oscars until the Will slap happened, but then couldn't help myself from watching the rest of the whole dang thing

My wife grew up as a jehovahs witness, and left before I met her.

She has been ostracized from her family for nearly 30 years now so it was a very touchy movie in my house I didn’t hate it. I admire those girls for overcoming everything to become legendary strong black women. They are truly role models.

The movie was kind of a sanitized version of a guy that made people’s lives far more miserable than was portrayed in that movie. There is a reason his wife divorced him.

I cant imagine what that level of a "sport dad" looks like. I often wonder how Tiger Woods childhood was. He is another example of a child prodigy pushed to greatness in a non-traditional sport.

I’m not saying I’m some sort of true Hollywood insider, but I’ve worked with studios here for 7 years and my best friend has been here working with them for 15 years.

My friend told me the rumors about Ellen five or six years before that went public from people he knew who worked with her.

My coworkers who had worked at Sony pictures all had the same opinion of will smith as an unhinged egomaniac. Wedging his kid into those films killed morale of the studio. These studios support a massive amount of “normal” jobs.
My uncle is a screenwriter and had a similar experience on a project he was adding dialogue to. He had a similar experience where he was not respectful of peoples time and rude.

The only positive I can think of for Will is that's some pretty ingenious stuff to in the course of like 20 minutes come up with the "well the guy I played in this movie was also a crazy *** who defended his family" angle. Pretty nice spin on short notice.

There was a pretty great Tracy Morgan/Tim Meadows SNL bit about 25 years ago that was possibly not that far off.
