*** Official UNI vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Did anyone figure out what in the hell was going on with the south scoreboard and production prior to the team entrance?

Also, I’ve come around on the SEZ scoreboard and sound system. It’s a pile of sh*t and needs replaced badly
They need to replace both scoreboards/sound systems. They also would benefit from adding LED lights

This is probably a super niche issue, but they absolutely screwed anyone in section 19 who sits remotely close to the Sukup Club. The new partition they put up completrly obstructs your view of the field. It’s completely unbearable and of course we got no warning from the AD they were doing this. We’ve been in this spot since they moved us from the old SEZ so a heads up would have been appreciated and we would have moved. Took what were some pretty good seats and ruined them. Guess the student section being moved ruined it for everyone

Fun day!! I was real pleased with the game today. Not perfect by any means. But beating UNI like that is never a bad thing.

I had the best cell service I've ever had in Jack Trice. I could check the scores of games all day long which was nice.

I had deluded myself into thinking that maybe it wouldn't be too hot. But it was one of the worst days I can remember in that place. The hot UNI game 7 or 8 years ago was a night game so I don't think we had the sun the whole game. Today was pretty brutal. Also, old people really need to be careful going to these games.

Yeah idk I remember seeing him out there and then all of a sudden I noticed he wasn’t out there for a while. Saw him on the sidelines but I wonder if maybe he got dinged up and they shut him down?
Re-watched the game, saw him out there quite a bit. Thinking that we are much deeper at corner than we all thought. He was somewhat scarce after halftime

To me it felt that we got comfortably ahead and got super conservative. Special teams being good was awesome. I thought run blocking right away was good and we got some decent push but was lackluster as the game wore on. Super happy with a comfortable win but still lots of room for improvement. The downfield shots were there to Noel both times just overthrown. Hope some of the issue was the big lead and being very conservative.

And I don't think we should understate how the weather played into the 2nd half either.

The OL play could be worse. Baylors OL is about to get Shapen killed

I didn’t notice, but did we put in some new olinemen in at points? I know Simmons was also starting even though he was second on the depth chart. Maybe that was motivation.

Yes, I made a mistake. Was it worth pointing out though? Did you accomplish something?
Well, one of us simply tried to show a little respect for a player.

I’m sorry that somehow managed to grind your gears. Most people would have just said “Oops, I’ll fix that”, and moved on.

Skipped the other 57 pages how whiney was the game thread?
A few highlights for you. “I hope this is CMC’s last year”. “Our offense still sucks”. “We should beat a FCS team by like 400 points every time”. “Our kickers all suck” never mind they looked better than ever - some yahoo actually said we still “can’t kick it to end zone”. It was your basic doom and gloom
Another good one: something like, 'Our offense is no better than last year', and, 'Scheelhaase is just like Manning'.

Oh boy. I don't get how some people can just revel at being negative, at almost anything.
Thank you for those examples of hot takes. Damn I'm glad I usually stay out of game threads.
It's a dilemma every game. Should I enjoy the peace and solitude of a quiet day away from CF, or, miss all the "fun". :D

Another good thing was that it was well into the second half before we had anyone go down with cramps and none of them looked that bad. Pretty good sign of the conditioning our guys have.

Just got home from the game, and there were a lot of positives I saw on the field.

No turnovers and great ball control by the offense.

We had two takeaways today, with one of those being a pick six.

Young QB played solidly the entire game, no horrible throws, kept his poise and did not force the ball.

Offensive line was not great, but they were not horrible either. With a new coach and different way of blocking its going to take some time for it to jell.

Was impressed with the speed by the defense, they were flying around all game, and we were playing lots of young players upfront. Our Dlineman would play 3 plays and they were subbed for.

Special teams for the first time in the Campbell era were actually special. We fielded all the punts and had a wall set up a couple of times for big returns. Punting was great all day long, UNI never got close to blocking one and we were covering them down the field. Most important was the 56-yard field goal, he drilled it, would have been good another 3 to 4 yards.

My only complaint about the day besides the heat, it was warm, was whose idea was it to put up the plexiglass wall between section 19, our section and the Sukup area? It would have been nice to be told they were going to do it; I would have moved our seats. The railing on the wall blocked our vision every time there was a play in the SE corner of the endzone, so we ended up standing every time the ball was down on that side to see over it.
Before they moved us for the students our seats were right up against the railing, they did a great job policing to make sure that drinks were not being passed over the rail. The few times someone tried, cops were called. No reason to change something that was working.

Last complaint, we were in Iowa City on Thursday at the hospital, I could see the beer stands on the walk areas from the street. If EIU can sell beer and make money from it, so can ISU. Get over this prohibition idea of beer sells and let the little guy purchase a beer to enjoy the game in the stadium.
