Just got home from the game, and there were a lot of positives I saw on the field.
No turnovers and great ball control by the offense.
We had two takeaways today, with one of those being a pick six.
Young QB played solidly the entire game, no horrible throws, kept his poise and did not force the ball.
Offensive line was not great, but they were not horrible either. With a new coach and different way of blocking its going to take some time for it to jell.
Was impressed with the speed by the defense, they were flying around all game, and we were playing lots of young players upfront. Our Dlineman would play 3 plays and they were subbed for.
Special teams for the first time in the Campbell era were actually special. We fielded all the punts and had a wall set up a couple of times for big returns. Punting was great all day long, UNI never got close to blocking one and we were covering them down the field. Most important was the 56-yard field goal, he drilled it, would have been good another 3 to 4 yards.
My only complaint about the day besides the heat, it was warm, was whose idea was it to put up the plexiglass wall between section 19, our section and the Sukup area? It would have been nice to be told they were going to do it; I would have moved our seats. The railing on the wall blocked our vision every time there was a play in the SE corner of the endzone, so we ended up standing every time the ball was down on that side to see over it.
Before they moved us for the students our seats were right up against the railing, they did a great job policing to make sure that drinks were not being passed over the rail. The few times someone tried, cops were called. No reason to change something that was working.
Last complaint, we were in Iowa City on Thursday at the hospital, I could see the beer stands on the walk areas from the street. If EIU can sell beer and make money from it, so can ISU. Get over this prohibition idea of beer sells and let the little guy purchase a beer to enjoy the game in the stadium.
