It's looked like a problem for a whe now. Pen worn out. Offense too many guys not producing. We'll see if this is just 'weird stuff happens at Coors' or if it's a real problem....
I would assume he'll come out of the Bullpen for a bit before he starts again.Stro's back. I'd move Hendricks back to Sunday and use Stroman as an opener for Assad Saturday. Only realistic chance we have to advance in the playoffs (if we get there) is Stroman back as a starter. If he can throw 40-50 this weekend he could be at 80+ by the end of the regular season. Plus him and Assad pairing down the stretch would basically build in a day off for the rest of the pen every 5 days.
I think you're wrong.I would assume he'll come out of the Bullpen for a bit before he starts again.
Strohman will definitely start in the playoffs if the Cubs get there, but I don't think he will be starting anytime this weekend. My guess is they will try to get him 2 starts before the playoffs, so you'll see him throw out of the bullpen this weekend and early into next week to get him up to speed/stretched out. Then give him a start next Sunday at home against the Rockies, and again Friday the 29th against the Brewers. That would set him up for a start in Game 2 of the Wild Card series on October 4.I think you're wrong.
Just because you read that or hear MS say he'd do it doesn't make it the right move. Assad won't be starting in the playoffs. He won't start in the first round even if Stroman can't return. If Stroman can't start in the 1st round we have basically no chance of advancing.
Far better to let him prepare as an opener then work up to full time starter. Let's him go through a regular routine instead of warming up.Strohman will definitely start in the playoffs if the Cubs get there, but I don't think he will be starting anytime this weekend. Hopefully we're both right. He threw a strong 30 last night. Would hope for 40-50 next time out. It would be hard to plan that out of the pen.Strohman will definitely start in the playoffs if the Cubs get there, but I don't think he will be starting anytime this weekend.
