JP's run out of gas?
JP is getting the heck out of Dodge before he puts out the press release stating we are replacing the coach that was our one peek into national prominence with an assistant who has never run a program before.

JP's run out of gas?
Don't everyone attack me at once but I just got a text: "Supposedly it's coming out today."
Get a grip. Only bluebloods don't lose coaches. You know what Fred and his family know about ISU MBB? That him leaving will be overcome. That every coach except one in the past 30 years has had success, with 4 of the past 5 reaching the second round by Year 2.It's the narrative they've fed the hawk sheep for generations. They are thrilled fred is leaving. The odds of iowa state regressing back to a mediocre level increase dramatically with Fred Hoiberg not being the head coach.
And for the people chastising others for being upset, it needs to be understood that this coach, and his wife, know exactly what this move means to everyone associated with iowa state and Ames. This isn't Beverly Floyd wanting out, this is a hometown hero and his hometown childhood sweetheart.
There is a much bigger statement here than just losing a coach, no matter how people want to spin it in the ad.
It's always been a dream and goal of his to Coach in the NBA and that was made clear from Day 1.
Mark Charter should give away $100 to the person that can guess the correct number of pages this thread has as of midnight tonight.
So all Gene Chizik would have had to have said is Auburn was his dream job from day 1?
Underwear too tight is my guess. It's very binding and restrictive.Good question. Why are we all riled up for?
. And all of that is fine but let's not pretend Fred is different than his other coaching peers. I know we all want to believe differently but it's just not true.
I bet part of Fred's desire to coach in the NBA is bc his playing days in the NBA were cut short

This. You don't leave a dream job after 5 years to go onto the next job.
People wanted to think Fred was different than the typical coach. But he's not. He continually leveraged the AD for more money, he said he wanted to hang banners, he has flirted with the NBA on more than one occasion all while professing his love for Iowa State. And all of that is fine but let's not pretend Fred is different than his other coaching peers. I know we all want to believe differently but it's just not true.

Did Fred ever actually use the words "ISU is my dream job"? I'm honestly asking because I don't know. There is a world of difference between saying that as compared to saying "coaching at ISU has been a dream of mine".
