I imagine that as a CF community we are going through the 7 stages of grief. Anyone have any clue what stage we are in?
Well, if this quote doesn't say "dream job" I don't know what does:
“I’d love to end my career here,†Hoiberg said in a phone interview with the Ames Tribune. “I’ve got something special in Ames. My kids get to see their grandparents every day if they want to, and that’s stuff you can’t replace. To look up in the crowd (during games) and there’s my parents, my in-laws, my brother, my sister-in-law, my other brother drives over from Omaha a lot, just to have that family support, you can’t replace that.“I’m very happy here. My kids love it. I’d love to spend the rest of my career here.†- See more at: http://amestrib.com/sports/men-s-basketball-hoiberg-gets-raise-isu#sthash.0UeZ0tym.dpuf
That quote is what will leave a bitter taste in people's mouth, and why the media should stop pretending to be shocked that any ISU fan would be upset at Fred. If he had left after 8 or 10 years, then that would be a completely different scenario.

Fred does owe Iowa State 8 more years of coaching from his 10 yr contract. I get they don't always work out but after signing that and saying how much this job meant he leaves after 2 yrs and losing to UAB?

Don't everyone attack me at once but I just got a text: "Supposedly it's coming out today."
That quote was from April 2014. The question that bugs me is: what changed his mind? The BDJ circus show? Sooner-than-expected heart surgery? The first taste of failure in the NCAA tournament? Probably all of those things together. Whatever the case, he made a big 180 in the past year to be willing to leave before the Niang-McKay-Long senior year.

I'd like to hear more from Pandy Reterson before I decide anything.
Considering Jeremy, and others have said this it isn't exactly groundbreaking. Nice try at redemption though. I think people would be shocked if it didn't. Why you would listen to someone that fed you completly wrong info is beyond me, I would reply to him: no **** sherlock.
Looking good, Cyclonepride! If he leaves, it will be the fault of all of us who were on our message boards instead of staking out like this guy:

There should be stake outs at the airport, his house, Hilton and the Practice Facility, and "Fred Don't Go" banners at all highway ramps. No excuses!!!
You are struggling. Take your pills to clear your depression and hopefully your comprehension improves.Amazing. Simple statements seem to confuse you. He knows what his leaving would mean to Cyclone nation, that's not even up for debate.
I don't care he follows his real dream. But because he, and his wife, completely understand the situation, playing it out like this doesn't reflect well on him.
Just go if you're going. But when you drive across 80 watch out for the giant semen cloud over iowa city.
