NDSU favored by 2

You're a glass half empty type of person. I guess if I had a brand new coaching staff with Mangino having an excellent track record and young people that already have experience and are getting big, I would get excited but man you put the mood down in this thread. I hope this program proves you wrong and shows you even with a terrible season last year that a new year is a "new year".
Clonedude is realistic. We're underdogs to an FCS school at home. Not sure you can bring up the mood of that. Can't wait to see how Pollard and CPR hype this one up.

This reminds me of 3 years ago when we were 2.5 favorites at Drake in basketball. Sorry to bring that up.

who the **** says they need to? its the first game of the year and a line based on last year's results. some of you are just looking for an excuse to be negative, the 30th can't get here soon enough. either you are right and i can just ignore you until bball season, or you are wrong and then you can go away until bball season.

That's hard to believe - anyway, ISU pummeled UNI that year.

Seriously, how mad will you be if Iowa State beats NDSU badly, and wins 8 games this year,

I am sure that you will not post here except for the weeks that we lose of course. But man I imagine you will be one depressed son of a gun.

How many times has Rhoad's won game we were not favored in? ISU has never been favored in more than 1-3 games in the Rhoads Era and yet we have exceeded Vegas predictions each year.

Generally I would agree. However, we didn't exceed Vegas predictions last year. The over/under was set at 4.5 wins last year and this year it is set at 3.5 wins.

It would be a shame if this NDSU team beats ISU on its home field. Back to back seasons with losses to FCS teams would really knock the program back to the Walden years.

Maybe we can stop scheduling FCS teams from then on... look for the silver lining. I'd rather lose to the worst FBS team than even have the threat of competition from an FCS team.

I view ISU as the under dogs in this game. NDSU is a powerhouse. Cyclones are coming off a 3-10 season, losing a game to lowly UNI to start the season. I fully expect to be disappointed and start off with a loss.

I wonder if we'll get to play 13 games again this season

This line is essentially a pick 'em. I don't know why anyone would be surprised by that. ISU has a huge hole to dig out of after last year. We don't know how quickly the offense will respond - Mangino has only had a spring and two-a-days to get the offense back on track. There are serious question marks on the defensive side of the ball. Need I go on? NDSU has a lot of question marks but coming off of another FCS championship season. I have thought this game was going to be a dog fight for a long time and this line does nothing to change my thought on that. If NDSU blows this one open I will be seriously disappointed. If ISU blows them out I will be greatly and pleasantly surprised. I just hope ISU can start off with a win and have another week to get comfortable in their roles on D and in the offense under Mangino.

If the Clones lose to an FCS team on their home field two years in a row in the first game of the season that would be a train wreck. I don't know how Rhoads could crawl out of a wreck like that unscathed. There's absolutely no legit excuse for something like that to happen. Doesn't matter who you are playing.

We start off football season with a home loss to an FCS team again this year, and I'm just moving right on to hoops season. The momentum of the program needs this game badly.

This is true for NDSU also. If we get crushed in the first game after losing so many starters I think they will be shaken and it will be a tough year. Ahhh the intangibles...

BTW: LB is the only one on my ignore list here. :)

PondsBuffalo coming on to say you aren't a real Bison in 3, 2, 1...

Your Hawkeyes should have been beaten a couple of years ago by UNI. Got lucky with blocked PAT. Minnesota from the mighty B1G lost to 3 FCS teams in 5 years. Which shows just how weak the B1G really is.

No one is making excuses.
