Mike Taylor Arrested (Twice Now)

Strike two for Mike Taylor in the short time he's been a Clone.

Mike Taylor was arrested last night for a Feb 4th incident in an Ames apartment complex. Since the damage was over $200, the act is classified as a serious misdemeanor.

This is Mike's second incident since becoming a Cyclone less than a year ago. I was ready to report last summer in an article titled "More Bad News" that Mike was arrested for drunk driving but decided to pull the article just before it was set to appear.

The only question remaining is what will happen to ISU's most experienced and talked about guard?

Note: To those that have made vulgar comments towards me for reporting about MT's OWI, you need to remember he's the one that made two stupid mistakes in 6-months, both while being a member of the MBB team. Every reporter I know knew back then about the OWI but decided not to report it, as did I. The reason I'm reporting it now is that it was going to be reported on by other media personalities shortly and I was given the go-ahead to get the correct story out there before others had a chance to twist things around.

The majority of us wish to have a clean program after two coaching embarrassments that rocked the program. You can call me names for wanting to have my donations and money go to a clean program or you can re-evaluate what is appropriate and inappropriate for ambassadors of our University to be doing on their free time.

Maybe Mcdermott has someone replacing him? Honestly, I dont care how good you are, if you cant keep out of trouble, I dont want you screwing up ISU's image.

That kind of stuff is usually in the paper. I thought they published every ticket that the cops write.

The drunk driving didn't happen in he state of Iowa last summer so therefor it wasn't in the public records here. There wasn't any sort of conspiracy, I think those of us that knew just decided it was yet another embarassment for ISU and it was best just to keep it on the down low.

Two arrests in maybe 6 months? I like Taylor but I say give him the boot. I was arrested for public intox when I was in school and the university said that if I got arrested within a year, I would be shown the door and I wasn't on scholarship. Now the university didn't follow through with their threat in my case but I say we have to make an example of him.

Will be interesting to see what he broke and how it happened. Is this a thing like Berryman where he punched in his girlfriend's car window or is this something stupid that he was being careless and someone pressed charges over something.

I'm going to wait till we hear more details before passing judgement but I don't like the sounds of this.

Different sports, but I'd say toss him. After what ISU went through with Larry "natty light" Eustachy, Berryman and the D1 scheduling overkill-this is the last thing they need. The athletic department has spent a lot of time and money trying to repair the image of the last few years. This does not help a new coach establish himself and his program-particularly in light of the OWI arrest less than a year ago.

Toss him, we dont' need to revisit this problem yet again.

I hate to say this as I think he was close to getting over the hump of being a really helpful player, but McD needs to just get rid of him or seriously discipline him. I want a clean image for our program and want McD to set the bar high.

Well, he obviously has had a second chance at this point with the OWI. I don't think that Greg has any other option than to cut him loose.

Does anyone recall if GMac had any UNI players that had legal issues? If so, do you recall how he handled similar issues in the past? I'm just trying to get a handle on how GMac works in situations like this.

I am not going to say if he should be shown the road or not because I dont know the entire circumstance. I will say that this is not national news. 1st of all the people on this board are huge Iowa State fans and they didnt even know about his OWI. A $200 misdemeanor from a player off of a .500 team is just a blurb in the papers. I dont think that this from a media standpoint is even in Berryman or Eustachy's ballpark. Berryman spent a year in jail and Eustachy was the highest paid state employee at the time.

Sounds like MT might have some issues with the drinky-drink. Maybe that explains some of the turnovers; it's hard to dribble when you have to choose between the two balls you see in front of you.

I can't believe you guys (and / or gals) are so quick to pass a death sentence on Mike Taylor. I think I'll wait until the details come out to express my opinion on whether or not to jetison him!
