Matt Thomas predictions

Slump? Sorry, but like Frachilla said, he's struggled since he got here. I WANT the kid to succeed. ISU would be a lot better team with another great shooter in the corner...they could better survive off nights from Naz. But right now, I think that he's lucky that SDW transferred or he'd likely be getting Custer/Edozie minutes. To me, he needs playing time to work through what seems like nervousness/anxiousness on the court. If he were playing 30 minutes a game, I think that he would calm down and end up being a pretty good player. I just don't think that those minutes are there at ISU...we can't afford to let him work through his issues on the court. Right now those minutes are only available in the MAC or MVC. That's why when ISU was destroying Tech, I was hoping that FH put Thomas in for the entire second half and told him to fire away. That was a perfect chance to bust through that glass ceiling.
Yeah, because SDW showed a lot in his minutes in the first half of the season. Not to bash him, but there's a reason he transferred. He was way more unconfident in himself than Thomas was.

If an nba scout thinks he could have nba potential, I'm not sure why saying he could have nba potential is stupid. He has the body for it. Chris babb style. Not quite as thick yet, but he is only a sophomore. And don't compare chris babb senior with Matt sophomore.

Montes ball handling has spoiled us. Matt is not a bad ball handler. He just isn't monte morris.

Also, it's not like anyone is guaranteeing Matt an NBA career. Most of us know by now that verrrrrrry few people make it onto an NBA roster at all anyway. No one is saying that he'll match Fred's career, or something even wilder. Just that a scout says he has a chance, probably like 200 other people that have some sort of chance, however likely or unlikely it turns out to be.

Are you doing exactly what I said not to do and compare senior Babbs to sophomore matt thomas? Or did you watch a lot of Penn State basketball babbs sophomore season?

Babb's feet as a SO > Thomas's feet as a SO

Again, it's not rocket science. Thomas never has been and never will be a NBA prospect.

That doesn't mean he can't become a solid B12 player, but he will never play in the NBA.

Matt is in a group project with me in BusAd 250. So if you see him starting to play better you know who's helping him out...

I think his release is fairly quick, but it's noticeably slower when he's hesitant to shoot (duh). You're absolutely right, he needs to just let it rip. When he does that (end of first half before Iowa game and WVU game) he makes them. When he has time to catch and think about the shot, he screws up.

Dude you have been bashing Matt this whole thread.

Lighten up on the kid will ya?

He just needs to settle in and take good shots when they come to him. Do that and he'll be just fine.

Hopefully he keeps this up and gives certain posters on this board a big ol **** burger to eat!

Now it's one game.....so lets not get the "See I told you so" trains going....or that's he's arrived.

but by god that was great to see...and we needed it. He keyed that separation almost single handily. Looked confident, looked aggressive. Couldn't be happier for the kid.....have a beer...errr....I mean diet coke on me kid.

Can't remember when or what thread it was but I remember a poster that suggested he should transfer to Wisconsin-Whitewater. Haha. I'm glad Fred hasn't given up on him like so many fans had.

Matt Thomas looked very solid today against Texas.
It was a very good game today.
He is definitely getting better and I see the potential.
