Matt Thomas predictions

So tired of Matt-haters just throwing out insults when nothing else works. Give it a rest. We. Don't. Agree. With. Your. Assessment. Of. Matt. Thomas. It's ok. really.
Saying he doesn't have NBA potential doesn't make one a hater. Just makes them more a realist and not a moron.

I think the "haters" are seen so much because people just keeping sticking these outrageous goals out there and have not changed their expectations every single game from what they thought his ceiling was day 1.

Maybe part of the reason he's struggling is because half the fans out there still expect him to be scoring 12 a game and hitting 50% of his threes and that he's on his way to the NBA? At this point those expectations are outlandish. Maybe he can move towards some of that in the future but jesus that's a lot to ask for a guy getting 10 mpg right now.

The Lafester Rule: 10 mpg = 10 ppg.

If an nba scout thinks he could have nba potential, I'm not sure why saying he could have nba potential is stupid. He has the body for it. Chris babb style. Not quite as thick yet, but he is only a sophomore. And don't compare chris babb senior with Matt sophomore.

Montes ball handling has spoiled us. Matt is not a bad ball handler. He just isn't monte morris.

I don't think that's what is happening here. I don't think anyone is comparing a catch and shoot SG to one of the best ball handling PGs in the country.

oh, c'mon. now you both have missed my point. A trip to the nba is a longshot for most college players. What I don't understand is why posters feel compelled to insult those that disagree with them? Even if you think their position is outlandish? Can't they make a better case than to simply throw slurs?

You did. . . and it was creative. (But, I don't think either the lovers or the haters have near the power with which you have endowed them.)

Probably accurate. Although I constantly see "haters" accused of killing his confidence.

Hopefully he just starts hitting 3s and this can all stop.

If Matt Thomas has NBA potential then Adam Woodbury probably has NBA all star potential.

I don't understand why we don't talk Dustin Hogue's NBA potential. We must hate him.

Matt doesn't have to be an NBA player to have an important role on this team over the next two years.

Everyone needs to get off their high horses. He's a good kid who's in a slump. He has the talent to be a good shooter for us and I for one hope he figures it out.

This got really dumb. Anybody who thinks Matt Thomas has not been a disappointment is out of their mind. Fred called him the best shooter in that class multiple times. Hopefully by his senior year he can knock down his 3's consistently, but right now I would not be giving him more than 5 mins a game. When he shoots and misses he kills our momentum.

Just because one scout made an off the cuff comment about Matt before seeing him play, doesn't mean he has NBA potential.

I am rooting for the kid, but if you seriously think he has NBA potential, you have not watched much NBA ball. His athleticism and quickness (ie defensive ability) is not even remotely similar to Babb's.

There have been times his makes have totally changed momentum too. IE, the Iowa game.

can we put this thread on the island with all the stupid people? i hope players don't even know this forum exists, all it is most the time is a bunch of self-righteous douches bashing 20 year olds for not meeting their inflated expectations. Maybe the reason MT struggles with confidence is because every "fan" has hated on him since he got here. I don't doubt some of you were part of the crowd that led him to shut his twitter down last year because of the negativity spewed at him

Why you bashing Matt? Why are you saying he struggles with confidence?

Slump? Sorry, but like Frachilla said, he's struggled since he got here. I WANT the kid to succeed. ISU would be a lot better team with another great shooter in the corner...they could better survive off nights from Naz. But right now, I think that he's lucky that SDW transferred or he'd likely be getting Custer/Edozie minutes. To me, he needs playing time to work through what seems like nervousness/anxiousness on the court. If he were playing 30 minutes a game, I think that he would calm down and end up being a pretty good player. I just don't think that those minutes are there at ISU...we can't afford to let him work through his issues on the court. Right now those minutes are only available in the MAC or MVC. That's why when ISU was destroying Tech, I was hoping that FH put Thomas in for the entire second half and told him to fire away. That was a perfect chance to bust through that glass ceiling.

Are you doing exactly what I said not to do and compare senior Babbs to sophomore matt thomas? Or did you watch a lot of Penn State basketball babbs sophomore season?

I didn't even have to read your post after the first line to know that I completely agree.

The only ones with inflated expectations are the sunshine pumpers that think he has a shot at the NBA. My expectations are pretty low at this point.
