Really? What was wrong with what I said? Instead of being a **** and posting a picture like that, how about you actually explain what makes you think Matt has no shot at the NBA? You know, actually have a discussion about it.
It doesn't need discussed because there is no discussion. The kid is a very average athlete, bad defender, average at best ball handler, a 27% three point shooter, a 34% overall field goal percentage, and has very little upside. You actually thinking he has a chance at the NBA makes you either:Really? What was wrong with what I said? I'm really not looking to engage in a discussion with you about Matt Thomas, seeing as you want him to transfer.Be honest, you're stoned as **** and just trolling all of us right?
Which category does that NBA scout from the Georgia State game fall under? Trolling? Or was he a 16 year old NBA scout? It doesn't need discussed because there is no discussion. a) A family member
b) A teenager at best
c) Simple
d) Trolling.
This thread probably won't be used to show cyclone fanatic basketball IQ.
considering a "good game" via CF is when he makes 2 of 4 shots......yep....NBA should be calling soon. Man...hope he doesn't come out early.
I think his release is fairly quick, but it's noticeably slower when he's hesitant to shoot (duh). You're absolutely right, he needs to just let it rip. When he does that (end of first half before Iowa game and WVU game) he makes them. When he has time to catch and think about the shot, he screws up.I think a quicker release would help tremendously. He has great form but seems to rely on it too much instead of just firing when open. The ball was in the hoop before it even touched Tyrus' hands because Tyrus knew he was gonna catch, shoot, make and repeat . Matty can make shots...he just needs to know its going in before he even touches the ball. ThugLife knew it was going in as well. So did Dedric. I'm not saying Matt is on their level, but mentality is a big part of shooting.
His offensive rating per 100 possessions is five points better than Nader. Nader also shoots a lower percent on threes, Nader turns the ball over more, and Nader assists less. If we're going to hate on Matt so often, why not talk about Nader as well? Why is Matt the whipping boy?
My prediction for Matty? He'll have a damn sight better career as a Cyclone than any of the rest of us posters.
I don't know if he will go to the NBA; my guess is he will be a long shot...but he'll see more more minutes in NCAA games, more media, more fans, more tournament games than any of us could ever dream of.
John Paxon wasn't exactly a speed demon and he did quite well in the NBA. He was also 2" shorter than Matt. If you can shoot, they'll make room for you. If things clicks for Matt and he starts shooting as well as everyone says he can, he does have a shot at the NBA.
I don't see him being in the game for an opportunity like that
