LA Tech Transfer Holden visiting in May

People make way too much out of this "much easier" league stuff.

I guess Huggy, Cronin and Prohm are idiot
Because they've offered doesn't mean he's great nor does it make them idiots if he's not. It's a one-year thing. They may have an available scholarship that will go wasted. Rather than take a flyer on a guy who will eat a future scholarship you take the grad transfer. If he works out, great. If he doesn't, no harm.

Found this. I haven't watched it yet, but might give a small insight into how he was utilized at LA Tech. It is the final game of their season (post season Vegas 16). Edit - just a few mins in he looks raw offensively but active.

Thanks for posting -- I think ISU recruited that GeLawn Guy fella on ETSU back in the day.

I think we spend too much time analyzing minutes per game. At the end of the day it's all about team dynamics. This year we barely had any practice competition in the 4/5 position. If we can get 4 or 5 forwards competing in practice and 4 or 5 guards competing then everyone gets better. Maybe Holden doesn't get any minutes but if he pushes a starter he's valuable. I think half the problem with McKay last year was nobody was pushing him, ready and able to step in, at least until Prohm called his bluff. So the question to me is whether Holden is better than our weakest forward?

Dont bother. This bored will make him essentially Karl Malone by page 10. The sunshine and rainbows coalition will call you all sorts of stuff if you dare even question any and all decisions.

And the guys that want to dismiss him have no clue either. It's not like anyone has seen enough of him to evaluate. We've also seen people say that Lard will be ahead of him... I'll count on the guy who has played at La Tech over the guy who played in Louisiana HS ball in his junior year as the last organized ball he's played. There were plenty of people saying that Beilfeld would suck too, but he ended up being a nice piece for Indiana.

The fact that he was coming off of injury last year makes me wonder what he could do after a full summer of training in Ames and with a better supporting cast around him. In the end we need a non-freshman big for next year's team and we don't know if Malou will be eligible.
Bowie?

Absolutely agree. I think we've been spoiled to where SOME..not all..fans snub their nose at a kid like this.....then others have him a starter dropping 14 and 9.
Ha..well if he comes and Lard still starts over him...we are going to ve really really good.

Lard/Young are too big of question marks for me to think they would see minutes over him. It's not like we're going against scrubs for him, it's going to come down to us, Cincinnati, Illinois or WVU for him.

Hey Twin, what are your question marks with Young? He is one I'm probably most excited to see and think he'll be a beast.

I'm not twins, but I'm not sure he can be expected to come in and perform well against consistent size. I think he'll take some time to adjust.

He's not a highly regarded recruit and those are the ones who struggle most transitioning to the college level. He could be a major contributor next year or couldn't play at all, I'm not really sure.

Young could develop into an Ejim/Hogue type player for us, but I wouldn't expect it his freshman year. He looks like a good recruit though.
