LA Tech Transfer Holden visiting in May

Sure, but he's a bit of a wing/big hybrid just like Burton and Malou.

Both Bowie and Holden have the same number of rebounds per game. Of course I'll take him as one more player competing for post time, but not sure there is a ton of difference between the two players.

Bowie is the better rebounder. You can't look just at the numbers. Look at efficiency stats and Bowie rebounds at a higher rate. He is just an ok rebounder. Also think Bowie is the better defender. But this guy is just being pursued to add depth hopefully.

Bowie can shoot too. Having a guy that can do more than just defend the post is a good thing. Again not that we can't use a guy to go in and bang it out under the rim too and is athletic enough to get back in transition. I get why prohm wants him. He can be productive without changing our game like McKay in that regard. And if he is more physical down low another plus. So I know I am contradicting myself a little but I do want this guy I just don't think it is fair to expect this guy to be our post messiah. He has a lot of holes in his game still, and hopefully with good coaching we can see a Nader like transformation. I think we don't give Prohm enough credit for how much better Thomas and Nader got under Prohm. If the kid has the right attitude Prohm has shown he can make them a lot better.

Bowie is more of a stretch PF (who can play some SF). Holden is the effort rebound/shot blocker energy post (poor mans McKay) who can let our young PF/C develop before being forced to play. Biggest difference for me is Holden can play C, and I have my doubts Bowie will be effective there for major minutes.
Malou is slotted at C currently, and with his eligibility uncertainty landing Holden or someone with skills like him is starting protection if NCAA drags its feet or a quality backup rotation guy if things work out.

We are set at the guard spots, but the 4 and 5 spots are still huge unknowns. The more competition we have for those post positions, the better chance we find some bigs that can play at this level. Ideally we end up with 4 or 5 guys we can rotate in at those post positions. At the very least we need 3 capable guys.

Bowie and Holden are at least upper classmen that have played DI basketball. I hope our recruits can make an impact, but it is rare that a freshman post is physically ready for DI basketball.

Had some pretty crazy stats. Averaged 21.8 minutes over 22 games - fouled out 6 times and had 4 fouls 6 times. Finished the year with 2 assists and 33 turnovers.

I think he's probably pretty similar to a lot of the bigs Prohm had and utilized well at Murray. Not super skilled or big,t athletic enough to wrk well in a guard oriented offense.

So what are your expectations? You think his numbers will go up? I hope your basketball predictions are better than than your football predictions.

His numbers go up with better coaching and supporting cast, just like any other transfer we've had. McKay and Burton barely even played at Marquette, but they seen plenty of time here. Almost every single transfer Fred brought in people made the same comments about them before they committed, then after they play here and end up being good you act like they were always good.

Literally the same discussions every year. Wash, rinse, repeat.

This is not true at all. And McKay never even made it far enough at Marquette for him to get a chance to play in a game. Burton was on the Bug East all freshman team and averaged 16 minutes a game as a sophomore in the 8 games he played in. He averaged 19 a game at ISU as a Junior. Not really shocking.

And to prove you are wrong most people were very excited to get both those guys and White and Clyburn and Kane and BDJ etc.

Nader improved the most from former school to ISU. But all the others pretty much did what they were expected to do. Expecting him to be putting up better numbers against better competition is kind of silly but you can make that prediction. Just realize you don't have anything to base that on. At least people predicting he will make a modest impact on the team have his history to back them up.

This just isn't true. There's always a couple doubters, but for the most part, since after the first year of Royce and company, we always think new transfers will succeed. Some have probably been over hyped.

Kane- very supported
McKay- very supported
Burton- very supported
Bdj- VERY supported
Nader- I'd say 70%
Luscious- 70%?
Clyburn- honestly can't remember

Hell just last year, majority of us were in support of the Nick Babb transfer, and he averaged less than 2 pts per game. Obviously it helped we were going thru a coaching change, and he was the brother of beloved former player, but there is still tons of support for him.

Also helped that he was top 150 rated player, and didn't play because he was on a top 25 Arkansas team with upperclass guards. Similar to 3sus.

The support goes up a hell of a lot more after they are committed.

McKay didn't make it far enough because he was mad he was 4th on the depth chart. Burton left because he was being phased out.

There were still a lot of people doubting Babb up into towards the end of the season when Prohm said he'd be in the rotation if he could. Some of you guys are very delusional and suffer from memory loss.

If by some of you guys you mean you. Then yes you are correct
