Cutting Toney saves nothing. He can be given one more training camp to see if he can be anything or see if someone if willing to give a late round pick for him. Same Skyy more is still going to be with the team as he's on a cheap rookie deal. But if some team wants to toss a mid round pick to KC for him, I wouldn't be mad.Still have a game left to play but with an off week its fair to speculate about looming decisions. Is there any chance Reid and possibly even Kelce retires if they win the SB? I am hoping for no on both parts but Reid turns 66 in March and the speculation was out there last year too. Kelce is 34, turns 35 in October and can go out on top and settle down with Swift although I think she enjoys going to these games too so maybe she plans her tour around the football schedule next season.
The obvious for next season is Toney and MVS will be gone and I am starting to wonder if they look at trading Moore away too as he's been a bust so far and I doubt Mahomes trusts him anymore either. I'm hoping Reid keeps coaching as long as he's got the passion for it and good health as him and Mahomes have a good thing going. I don't even want to think about who the Chiefs would get to replace him but the time is coming soon unfortunately.
MVS is gone or will need a reworked deal. Leaning toward gone as it save $11 million toward the cap.
Reid and Kelce aren't going anywhere for at least next season or two. Kelce is showing some drop off, but he's still one of the best at what he does. At some point the planning for the next phase needs to be happening though. Is Noah Gray the next reliable TE? Do they try to find more vertical threats and become a down field slinging team again? Who succeeds Reid?
