Jake Campos Injured

Broke my ankle my senior year of hs. Physical therapy alone was 6 weeks, and that was AFTER the cast came off. And i was carrying around nowhere close to 300 pounds. I'd be shocked, if broken, if he plays this season.

Campos is out for this year and 2017 will be his final season unless it also ends with an injury early, in which case he could probably get a sixth year. But not now.
Is this fact? Is he truly out for the year? Or just speculation??

I posted earlier that he broke a leg, but someone since has told me it's a broken ankle. Neither of those sources were doctors, so I'm not sure the severity or what not.

The hip bones connected to the, everything underneath it bones...

No
Honestly I've heard both too. Sounds to me like a lower leg injury of some sort. Terminology can be tricky with those deals.

Hows the song go? The hip bones connected to the, everything underneath it bones?

First off, sad to hear this. Secondly...I'm . already worried about the expectation levels creeping up but it seems like in the past week or so since the media hype train started up full bore people are getting sucked in. I keep hearing the "B" word getting used more frequently which is insane.

This is a rebuilding year. A 1st time P5 coach year. Another year with a terrible o-line.

So PSA: don't get sucked in. This will probably help us in a couple of seasons.

Only 1/3 of the team was here last year or some crazy stat? I'm with you though... The ONLY thing we need from this year is the culture and his systems take root with the youngsters. All else is a bonus.

So nearly a foregone conclusion?

Everyone is jumping to medical conclusions, and it seems likely even his doctors are as yet unsure how long he will be out with the broken ankle. I highly doubt any definitive word has filtered to anyone posting here on the board unless its Chris Williams.

I broke my ankle about 15 years ago, and was back running and playing basketball within a month. That was a small "crack" and I'm guessing the possibilities range from 6 weeks to a full season for recovery in Campos' case. If he can make it back by late October for our final 5 weeks, that will limit how much his absence impacts the season. Depth on the OL is a problem, but it becomes increasingly so in the last half of the year. If he returns at that time, we may just be all right...JGJ seems like he will be an adequate replacement, or Fett may even shift out to Right Tackle. Either way, this hurts some but its not "devastating" as some seem to be suggesting.

I reserve the right to change my optimistic view on that, however, until I see how many other injuries we have along the OL in the pre and early season. If our starting five stay mostly healthy, this isn't a huge thing...that said, any more serious injuries and...well...there is always next year.

As always, depth is the issue at ISU. As you say, there may not be immediate huge issues, but it at the very least means we are one injury (even just someone being "nicked up") from a player who is not ready for Big 12 play seeing the field.
