Iowa Beat Writers

Don't make me start liking you David lol.. But seriously, why is he so mad?? He's starting to look like HawkFanfromCR10002 and not like he's a credentialed 247 reporter. He better watch it or he'll get those creds pulled.

Nevada has a seriously bad defense. I'm convinced Iowa could pick up first downs by just running the ball three times in a row. If this is somehow a game. Iowa has a very long season ahead of them. The only thing that Nevada has going for them on D is their ability to force turnovers.

It's really hard to picture that offense scoring 38 points on anyone. But maybe Nevada really is that bad.
Nevada's defense is horrible. I wouldn't be surprised if Iowa puts up some points but I will be surprised if a lot of it is through the air. Iowa still doesn't have a receiving core and their QB is dog water. I think Iowa's going to be able to run the ball at will, their defense is going to give them some very short fields to work with and also will come up with 1-2 TDs for themselves.

38 is a lot to ask from defense and special teams. If the offense can account for like, I dunno, maybe 21 of those points on their own without relying on short field position created by turnovers, then maybe they can get to 38 with some of what they're used to.

They scored 27 last year on us and most was from short fields.

I suppose in a world where they can pile up 5 turnovers again, 38 isn't out of the question. If they do to Nevada what they did to us for a half last Saturday, I have less confidence in Nevada's defense keeping Iowa out of the endzone. All things considered from a betting perspective, I think I will either stay away from this one, or put a small amount on the hawks to cover. That way I either win money and I'm happy, or the Hawks had to sweat it out vs Nevada and I lose money but get to laugh some more at the hawks.

Nevada is really bad. What's gone relatively unnoticed is Iowa's o line has been pretty awful. Couple that with the fact that they've played against two good d lines, and you get the results Iowa has gotten the past two weeks. If Nevada's d line is as bad as I think it is, the Hawks stand a chance to put up points because they should be able to run the ball and protect Petras.

Someone above mentioned Nevada's ability to turn the ball over and boy were they right. 7 INTS and 4 fumbles on the year. One of their DBs has 4 of those 7 INTs too.

I expect Iowa to handle them but if Nevada can force Iowa into some mistakes this game could be interesting.

When they had Eikholt on The Drive on Monday, I honestly really thought he was speaking some truth about Iowa's oh so tragic struggles. Honestly, it made me feel like he's the type of guy I'd grab a beer with and talk sports. That said, he sounded more like a fan who calls into Sound Off on I80 than an actual reporter. Dude was on the verge of tears with how emotional he was about their struggles.

And then this happened
