Iowa Beat Writers

I haven't been able to follow the whole thing, but has he said why he wants a credential? He's a radio person? Is he going to do a show from there? File reports during the game? Or just trying to find a reason to attend?

For him to air this out on Twitter is ridiculous. Maybe Todd went old school and tried calling Matt and Matt didn't answer, still a childish thing to run with on Twitter. Enjoy you're free weekend Todd, sitting at home, watching Cubs spring training games.
And that's my problem with Todd. He could have kept this private like a professional but instead he goes running to Twitter about it.

From the CREDENTIALS CRITERIA 2021-22 DIVISION I MEN’S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP:

"Agencies located within the geographic area of a participating institution must staff each of the participant’s previous tournament games in order to receive credentials to each subsequent game. Exceptions will be reviewed by the NCAA as needed after consultation with the participating institution. "

Seems pretty clear to me.

Probably had his whole trip planned out and just expected Iowa State to give the credentials because they tend to be more media friendly. He probably booked a non-refundable hotel because he assumed Iowa would be there.

I know a big Hawk fan at a small radio station who just gets credentials to go watch a game, does not broadcast it or file a report. Might post a few pictures on their social media.

If I'm not mistaken, I think many state high school basketball tournaments use the same policy. You have to have covered a high school in the tournament on a regular basis.

Naw Todd got screwed, just ask him.

Outside of not getting free tickets, this worked out perfectly for him. Now he doesn't have to talk about Iowa men's team losing to Richmond, Iowa women losing to Creighton on a shot from a transfer from their program, but instead talk negatively about Iowa State because of them following the rules and desperately ignore ISU teams that way outperformed his own.

If Todd doesn't like the reactions he's gotten, maybe, just maybe he shouldn't have posted what he did and kept it as a professional conversation between the media and ISU. His goal was to flame ISU because he was pissed he was told no, and shockingly, ISU fans came back at him. I'm not saying either side is right or wrong, but this is the exact reason why you don't do what Todd did.

"Don't be a Todd" is some very good advice
