Iowa State was a very good team last year, they did not get every break possible. Sagarin had them 8th, so their 8-2 record is commensurate, if not a tad below. Replay last year, and it is very possible they for 9-1 in the regular season, with a decent chance at 10-0.
This year Iowa is 20th, but went 10-2 then 10-4.
I’ve been advocating for keeping it at 12 assuming the playoff offers an auto-qualifier. 11 game conference schedule + 1 non-con. Need to think outside the box to maximize TV dollars.
I know every coach in the league would be opposed to it.
A round-robin hurt this version of the Big 12, but would really hurt at 12 when the other conferences are doing uneven scheduling of 8 or 9 games. We already will be fighting perception issues, so being a zero-sum schedule while the other conferences buy wins and mathematically create more elite teams is a bad idea
if possible I'd love Big 12 go to 8 conference games. A guaranteed loss is saved for half of your teams which boosts you SOS, quality wins etc that the playoff committee uses.
Rob Howe about to get blasted by Iowa fans because he didn't apply the chapstick after the game. That is some elite offenses BF has engineered at TOE (last sentence below).
I just realized that this shows how much Iowa has relied upon their defense to generate offense. Team scoring they have been 95, 40, 88, 43, 66 the five years of BF. Total offense (throwing out defensive scores and setups of offense in red zone) they have been 123, 87, 99, 91, 116 or about 36 spots lower on offense if you remove the defensive help.

To be fair to Brian (cuz I really like him and it would be a travesty if he wasn't promoted to HC) I am thinking KF says something like "Just don't screw it up son. Remember, we are likely 8-4 with even a mediocre team in the B1G West and our fans will eat that up. "
I am certain Brian could crank it up and will when the handcuffs are off. Just give him the chance to run things.
MN was the only team they beat who won more than 7 games on the season including bowl games. We have the same number (1) right now and if K. State can beat LSU in their bowl game will have two wins against teams with 8+ win season.
I agree, but so is a massive discrepancy in TV revenue which is where we are headed if we just do things business as usual. The absolute minimum requirement if we were to entertain it is a auto-bid in an expanded playoff.
Also, the days of teams scheduling an FCS school and a couple Gof5 cupcakes may die anyway in the next round of TV contracts. So, my idea would be moot at that point as well. There have been a few Internet rumors about a Big 12 vs SEC challenge.
The fastest way to fall further behind is to go round robin with 11 games.

Equal? Try a huge fraction which is what Bowlsby and our own administration is warning of. My idea might be bad, but let’s try to find some ways to maximize revenue. Obviously, it will never be equal at this point.

I think worrying about revenue is a lost cause. It’s going to be a bloodbath in that regard.
Do whatever we can to make up for it on the field. AAC just went 2-1 against SEC and Cincy gave Bama as good as gm as Michigan gave UGa. All on $10 million/year. Would that occur if they played more conference games or more difficult schedules and made $13million/year
Hmmm....When Iowa's total offense ranks in the BOTTOM 5 PERCENT of all FBS teams, don't you think Chad should be firing his tough questions at the Ferentz coaches rather than Spencer Petras?
