I dunno. If the offense could have clicked you'd be in the Rose Bowl.
This offense was never going to click. It'd be more likely that we lose some of the really close games we won if we hypothetically replayed the season. If we replayed the season I have us under 9 wins. Probably 8-5. I think next year if we get at least ok quarterback play we could be a step above this year's team. Schedule is tougher though also

Sounds like he's saying if Iowa could have gotten a few breaks this season they'd have been a playoff participant. When a few breaks this season allowed them to win many of their 10 games.

Agree, I don't know why KF gets so much grief. 10-4 with that roster is a hell of a year. Near wizardry. Sagarin for example has Iowa #20 and Iowa State #16. Computer ratings are not everything, but both the models and the eye test says one team in this state out-preformed, and it is Iowa. Like you replay that season 100 times, 95 of them end with equal or worse record. The other 5 involve nefarious things being done to Bell and Michigan getting bad directions to Indy.

If the offense is good, it just means most of those wins do not take heroics by the defense and ST. We know by now both teams in this state are going to muddy up every game, be in every game (sans Michigan), and W/L will be determined by "that's football". A more sexy offense and it is likely the defense-ST combo yields more points with these mediocre offensive minds

10-4 was the absolute best they could have hoped for with this team. They caught every break imaginable this year.

Nearly all of Kentucky’s 1st team defense was out of this game or got injured during this game…. and Iowa’s offense still couldn’t do S**T!

And the rest of the year Iowa was being gifted huge turnover margins as well, along with PSU’s starting QB getting injured when PSU was destroying Iowa.

Iowa could not have possibly caught any more breaks this season. It’s about a .500 level team without all the breaks. Their offense is the 123rd best in the nation out of 130 teams.

First off I agree. Why ferentz gets grief though is his stubbornness which sometimes blows up in his face. He's moved his son to OC despite no prior experience. The offense has definitely not improved since. He's starting maybe the worst power 5 qb for 2 years running also. Ferentz can lose games but it's a bad look when he loses because of these 2 things. It's very similar when Iowa State loses due to special teams when CMC doesn't want to at least assign a title.

Quarterback and OC I think all agree are extremely important posistions. Throw in a mediocre offensive line and 10-4 is about the best realistic hope and Ferentz also deserves credit for that but I don't think the faithful is going to acknowledge that for a bit

TOE's offense was garbage all season. Today was no different.
Early season gifts (like Breece's fumble for a TD), a good defense, and a Big10 West schedule was enough to fool a lot of people with a joke of a ranking at #2.
Then TOE offense reality set in. Ten wins was classic smoke and mirrors.
Now depositions rule the off season.

Oh their season was absolutely predicated on a soft as wet Kleenex schedule, but they also got every other possible break as well.
