Iowa Beat Writers

I ended up having an email conversation with Hlas about this. While he doesn't hire or supervise any of their sports writers, he acknowledged the inappropriate tweet and told me he was going to speak with this new writer as soon as he returned from the vacation he was on.
Again. You’re clearly pretty sensitive. Should she have put that on social media? No. i understand not liking it but to go to the lengths you have to follow up and do what you can to cost her her job?

This will end up like that one kid on KCCI last year(?). Her manager will have a talk with her about professionalism and social media etiquette when you're in the public eye. She'll maybe have to do an apology, and everyone moves on.

You screw up, losing your job is one of many results. If she hasn’t learned by now, she must be really naive, dumb, or a graduate of OU.

Sorry but actions like that have consequences. The largest university in the state and many millions of Iowans and Iowa state fans are going to be negatively effected by this. She’s here to serve Iowans the news and now she’s directly taking a big crap on the millions of peoples face. She can go away.

A sports writer who works for the 2nd largest newspaper IN IOWA boasts on social media how her alma mater has destroyed the Big 12, and you think me emailing the newspaper to complain is being oversensitive?? Hmmm....

Been about a week and the tweet isn't even deleted yet... methinks any sort of apology she makes will be pretty hollow

but of course if Rob Howe even suggests maybe the Iowa football program had some issues with racial insensitivity, well its fine for the HOK faithful to ask for his head all over social media... tryharder dude....

or........ a 20 something girl's tweet hurt your feelings so bad that you run to her employer to tell on her. I guess I'm just both old and old fashioned. I think people are way too thin skinned these days.

Hmmm, I remember something about an ISU billboard that was put up in Cedar Rapids where Iowa fans went ballistic:

yep. There are a lot of oversensitive Hawkeye fans too. No arguments from me there.

I don’t want her to lose her job or to be pressured into an apology.
To me, it’s one more example of many of a really smart person being really dumb and insensitive. I hope she matures, gets a little more perspective, and goes on to do great work.

Yeah. Screw her. Never heard of her and I will be certain to never read any articles she writes.
