One has played significantly more games. Those awards were well earned but I’m just saying, don’t sleep on Campbell. When healthy, he’s a difference maker.

No, you were "just saying" Cambell is better than Rose. LOL... I wouldn't "take your linebacker evaluations" over my 5 year old daugther's

I dunno. His evaluating skills and draft knowledge appear to be on point.

Apparently getting a stupid amount of tackles year after year doesn’t do much for people with keen football evaluation skills.
Not to mention that the keen evaluator is trying to compare a Mike LB to a Sam LB. Rose has proven in the past that he can excel at the Mike position. Then he agrees to change positions to allow a talented teammate to be on the field and proceeds to make plays all over the field against both the run and the pass. Campbell sits in the middle of an Iowa defense that is designed to funnel everything back to the middle where he is capable of finishing the tackle. He is actually not a bad player, just not an elite one like Rose. He would actually be a decent backup to share time with Vaughn behind Vance.

Listened to Scott Dochterman on KXNO a few minutes ago. His hawkeye slant really shows. Just like so many condescending hawkeye fans, he said:
  • this is Iowa State's year
  • we likely won't ever have this good of an opportunity again
  • 5 years from now Campbell could be gone
  • Iowa State better make the make the most of it this year
In spite of all the depth we've developed and the excellent recruiting classes we've got coming in, many folks take for granted that we're still a "rebuild" school, not a "reload" school. Given our poor history, I guess I can understand that, but it still grinds my gears. I'm going to enjoy our guys proving the skeptics wrong in the years to come.

Leah Vann was hired to take over Morehouse's beat at the Gazette, and she's been really good. She's also spent a lot of her first few months covering Iowa women's sports (both active teams like field hockey and soccer during their postseason runs, as well as underrepresented history). She's a huge Texas fan (from Texas and a UT-Austin alum), but also had a stop at the Mason City paper before going to grad school at Northwestern.

She's bragging that her and her friend's teams destroyed the Big 12. Boy, the Gazette really knows how to pick em. I'm sure their bias against Iowa State will turn around right away.
