Gary Payton II?

Gary and Fred could be friends and he said this as a joke to mess with Fred? Or give Fred's program some pub on ESPN radio? Or Gary was just being a Gary and it was a mistake on his part.

He seems like a Jake Anderson clone. His drive at 1:50 Jake did once a game.

It's hard to find too many stats on him. He averaged just over 10 points a game this year, so nothing earth shattering, but not terrible. I can't find other stats compiled for the year, but every recap I find has him getting double digit rebounds. So, the Jake comparison feels very fitting. Nothing I'm getting excited about and I'm quite skeptical, but it'd be interesting nonetheless.

Fred so good we are getting committs from NBA legends sons without talking to them or recruiting them. I heard all 10 of Shawn Kemps kids have committed to walk on at Iowa State.
Same for Geroge Foremans - all ten of them. ...except wrong sport.

Then again, stats can be misleading.

"McAlister said Payton's rebounding has been especially important. The 6-foot-2-inch Payton is the tallest starter on a team that regularly plays five guards."

Still, it was a game in which he had 15 boards, 8 assists and 2 blocks...

I have it, too...verbal dyslexia

I really do think thats what it is. I think everyone has it, along with real dyslexia, just to varying degrees. The vast majority have it to such a small degree that it doesn't affect them at all.

Man, this could be one of the greatest mysteries for Cyclone Fanatic to date. First Tom Cruise bunker, then Airplane won't fly if it's on a treadmill, now is Gary Payton really coming to ISU?

Pretty apparent that Chris Williams is not the incyder we all thought he was and is not in the loop at ISU. Or his new wife is taking up too much of his time and he is only contributing to Cyclone Fanatics 23/7 and not 24/7 anymore...

You absolutely cannot give this list without discussing the mysterious disappearance of Roger Sprague!

I think that you guys are missing the obvious. What Gary is actually saying, like any father wishing the best for his son, is that he wishes that GPII were going to iowa State to play for future coaching legend Fred Hoiberg.

Of course, if you state it in positive enough terms, it'll happen, right?

Simple enough.

Here's a theory: Maybe the kid has no good offers (or no offers) and Dad's willing to pay the freight to let him walk-on 'cause he knows Fred will give him a chance to get noticed in a big conference.
