Gary Payton II?

Anyone had any luck finding the audio segment from today from ESPN?

EDIT: I see daserop beat me to it...

I've tried and tried and have came up empty thus far... I'm leaning towards the concept that he did NOT say 'Iowa State', and we will not see Gary Payton II in Iowa anytime soon.
 
I definitely heard Iowa State. I can't believe there isn't more on this somewhere, anywhere
 
He said "He's gonna go to Iowa State next year." When asked if he was going to play he said yes. Take it for what it's worth. I don't know why he would be that matter of fact about it if it weren't true.
 
Yah, GP says Iowa State, not Idaho State/Ohio State/IL State/Indiana State.

Maybe he is just going to school at Iowa State? maybe walk-on?

Didn't mean he just had a slip of the tongue. May have meant Idaho but said Iowa. I know I have that problem where I'll say something and not even realize I mixed a word up.
 
Can a coach comment on a walk-on if they haven't enrolled on campus yet? Since there is no LOI for a walk-on, maybe nobody is commenting because he hasn't formally enrolled at Iowa State yet.... Or maybe Gary just mixed up Iowa and another state... He might have said "Iowa" but meant something else. That happens too

Yeah he is coming; and he is going to play -- for Al Murdoch.

Everybody I have talked to says that Iowa State has never recruited this kid. Maybe he is planning on walking on? Just strange that Gary Payton's kid would pick Ames, Iowa of all places to choose to go to school and walk on.

Fred is one hell of a recruiter if he can get kids to commit without even talking to them!

Maybe he is anticipating a transfer down the road and is avoiding the Christmas rush by going to "Transfer U" right from the get-go.:spinny:
 
My dream scenario is that CFH and Father Payton have it worked out for GP2 to be a preferred walk-on. As a 9 time all star, I don't think GP is hurting for tuition money to send his kid to school.

Fred and Gary had a 5 year overlap in the NBA.... 3 of them as players. Maybe GP knows his kid would be in good hands under Fred?
