It serves the same purpose that his previous accusations served. Plant the seed of doubt. In reality, I think it shows his insecurity of ISU. I wonder if he was getting an earful from uofi alums all week about game day (they sure tried to downplay or take credit for it a lot on social media) and was looking for a way to tarnish ISU's day.
To that end, his mission was probably accomplished. An ESPN notice showed up on my phone last night when it was released. And, it was late enough that any journalist couldn't check with ISU. So, a large portion of college sports fans saw the headline without any real information to back it up.
If he really wanted to improve the situation, he could have worked with ISU quietly until more was known.
At the end of the story, to those who have read as many details as there are, Barta has no integrity and looks to be an embarrassment to uofi.
The funny part is that those who read what Pollard said today see Barta for what he really is as Pollard adds to his earned respect.
