Gary Barta everybody

It's not funny, it's sad. Iowa has beaten us 5 times in a row yet they have the insecurity of a 13 year old to come to an ISU message board to prove they are not insecure. With the facts Pollard released, this non-story is going to turn into another PR nightmare for the University of Iowa. It's not like they don't have plenty already (Title IX discrimination, failure to pay contractors, blaming ISU for a UI student for breaking into the Iowa lockeroom, unexplainable raises for their head coaches).
Whar cheating refs, Dolph, and Brian melting down in a press box?

Oh I don’t know, maybe it’s because the ISU fan base is a bunch of delusional idiots being blindly led by egomaniacs that are detached from reality and they would rather try dealing with other people going forward.
Well, look what's back...see what happens kids when you don't get your kids vaccinated properly. Diseases like measles, polio and Johnnydugouts reappear.... ;-)

I suspect that is quite possible given the poster's demeanor, and apparent lack of knowledge about the rules of criminal procedure. But I really don't want to speculate further. The guy is emotional, filled with hate, and seems potentially dangerous.
You really aren't worth the time, but any time you'd care to compare relative knowledge of criminal procedure, I'm game. Not only did I learn it as a law student, and use it as a prosecutor and defense attorney--I've also taught it.

As for the rest, I'm not particularly hateful. But feel free to think whatever you need to while you're playing your little emoji games.

Dude while Dexter is a Hawkeye, he isn't a vile human. Occasionally he says stuff that pisses me off. Hell occasionally he intentionally tweaks us. That said he is a decent guy. He has been here for years. Your post is off base. I also am fairly confident your misplaced attack won't really budge him off of the forum. In fact I suspect he will enjoy ******* with you now that you have gone full blown East Bound and Down. We lost this weekend. Can't change that it is the reality. Step back and remember this is still a hell of a lot more fun than what we once had BC(before Campbell). It is not going to without bumps and pain but holy crap it is not the Hawks fans fault we couldn't execute on the field Saturday.

At least Dex and Iahawks get it and never have to come back 5X under a new name. These guys play the troll game right.

Years as a guy who has said he doesn't care about ISU. If he (or any hack) come on an ISU message board to troll, they are fair game.

I have mentioned the game a total of once and said the better team won.
I care about ISU...never said I didn’t.

No statement should have been released until they had some more difinitive information. This vague statement serves absolutely no purpose IMO.

It serves the same purpose that his previous accusations served. Plant the seed of doubt. In reality, I think it shows his insecurity of ISU. I wonder if he was getting an earful from uofi alums all week about game day (they sure tried to downplay or take credit for it a lot on social media) and was looking for a way to tarnish ISU's day.

To that end, his mission was probably accomplished. An ESPN notice showed up on my phone last night when it was released. And, it was late enough that any journalist couldn't check with ISU. So, a large portion of college sports fans saw the headline without any real information to back it up.

If he really wanted to improve the situation, he could have worked with ISU quietly until more was known.

At the end of the story, to those who have read as many details as there are, Barta has no integrity and looks to be an embarrassment to uofi.

The funny part is that those who read what Pollard said today see Barta for what he really is as Pollard adds to his earned respect.

I don’t disagree with this.

Do you prefer Barrister, or Esquire?

What purpose does this serve by issuing a press release at all for this? Someone please answer me that?

Even if what some are alleging did happen, which would be terrible, why wouldn't Barta and JP handle it privately, and then if anything ever did come of it, there would be an arrest and then there would be a press release describing what happened, who was arrested, what they were arrested for, etc.

But to come out right away with a press release to the entire country serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever other than to make Iowa State University look bad and throw them under the bus. It's totally unprofessional and extremely petty and lame.

But being that it's Barta.... it is not surprising at all.

I think to show the people who alerted him to the incident that he’s not ignoring them? I don’t think it’s a good reason but it’s a reason at least.

Not a good reason at all, you're right.

If you're Barta you tell the family of this person that you've contacted Jamie Pollard and the two of you are working on it and you will keep them posted.

That's what i'm assuming. He'd get drug through the streets if it came out that he had been sitting on the information and it turned out to be something bad. Granted seems like people are going to drag the guy no matter what he does. Especially Iowa fans.

One or both of these reasons come to mind:
  1. Barta being Barta.
  2. Fanning flames, exciting his base.
Gotta remember he doesn't (nor shouldn't) give a rats arse about the feelings of ISU fans (read: not people donating or attending Iowa athletics or buying Iowa merchandise)
