@surly
I have defended you on here before, but you really do want to pick a fight on this one.
I do not understand the K-State love.
They are routinely being picked #2 in the conference for next year. This is not an utterly unreasonable position, but I find it on the high side given...
They return everybody yeah, but they went 10-8 in the Big 12.
These are facts. They were an average/above average team in the conference last year. They were not pushing KU for the title like was WVU and TTU.
They were #44 nationally in net rating last season. Texas was better (#38). (K-State swept UT)
The transitive property does not work in sports. Their efficiency metrics last season were of a team that finishes in the middle of the conference, not towards the top, and given what they have coming back/coming in, I think they stay there.
They got past a #8 Wookie, #16, a disinterested #5 Kentucky, and lost to #11 Loyola-Chicago.
They had a nice run, but they dodged a
steamroller with UVA's meltdown against UMBC and lost to a MVC school (one with the #57 net rating in the country, lower than KSU) when they had a Final Four birth waiting for them. They feasted on a weak path.
They do not have much coming in. Brucie is still their coach.
Am I wrong about either of these things?
Are Williams and/or Trice going to be factors in the rotation?
I did not figure either of them were going to be.
I think they will be somewhere in the #10 to #6 range. (Is this NCAA seed?)
Yes.
I have them #3 or #4 in the conference.
KU is a clear #1, and I think WVU, TTU, and ISU could get past KSU. (That makes K-State #5)
No -- it means I think those four teams will be in the mix for #2 through #5. I trust Huggy and Beard to run out good squads, I like ours for next year, and I actually like yours, too, given what you have coming back. I just do not love it.
I figure those four will fight it out, and KSU is probably likely to end up in the #3 or #4 range, to me, though I could see #2 or #5 coming out, as well.
That part of the standings is always a bit of a mess, right?
