Expectations for 2018-2019

Thats what I've been reading on here for the last 3 seasons and it never materializes. Next year looks good on paper for depth but its too bad it took 4 years to actually build a complete roster.

At most, every statement about depth was likely qualified with "if this guy works out, or if these guys work out". This year required that at least five or six players worked out or were healthy.

I'm going to ride the fence here - I think top half may be asking a lot. I do think the expectation should be in the tourney. I wouldn't be shocked if it didn't happen.

Pluses: Respect to Brase and Beverly, they battled this year, but they played 387 minutes in Big 12 play this year. That will be reduced to zero next year and will be picked up by Talley, Jacobsen, and a healthy again Young next year. That right there is a massive improvement especially defensively. Long and Lewis will improve and IMO I expect THT to take their minutes which will be an improvement. Lard and Wigginton should be able to hit the ground running.

Minuses: There are some legit concerns about coaching (performance after the half, slow starts with a very difficult schedule to start the year next year) and there will be some tough teams still in the league next year. Who do we pass? It's not a given.

What are your expectations to start the season with Missouri and Maui? I know they havent announced the brackets yet but is everyone content on 1 win in Maui? I know Xavier loses alot but I realistically I dont think we compete with Duke, Arizona, Auburn or Gonzaga. I could see us losing a couple then beating a team like Illinois or San Diego State. Thoughts?

What will Arizona look like next year?

True, see this is why I need you guys to put me in my place when its deserved.

I completely forgot about the Miller scandal. Its a no brainer Ayton goes pro, they lose 2 other starters also. I assume Trier goes pro also? Plus they lost a couple recruits, so they could be a team without much identity to start the year when they show up in that bracket.

I made a thread about OSU yesterday... in their postgame the guys on set were saying that they should be in. If OSU beats KU again (tall, tall task) today they WILL be in in my opinion, which could realistically put 9 Big 12 teams in.

Even with a win and not more I don't see them getting in. They would have the lowest RPI of any team to ever get in. And it would be beating a KU team without Doke. Don't know how much weight that would carry.

NBA is a joke compared to college, not in the talent level obviously but in the way its played. I havent watched a complete game since Jordan was around and have no interest in ever watching another.

This analysis is a joke.
If you haven't watched a game in years, you can't describe the NBA in any way.

2 more wins and they are in, beat Kansas and it puts them in serious bubble discussions. Of course if they get in I honestly think it knocks a team like Oklahoma, Texas, or Baylor out, I think Big 12 gets 8 maximum.

Lol, I said I havent watched an entire game from start to finish in years. Ive seen highlights pretty much every day on ESPN since they are obsessed with Lebron. I've even watched minutes here and there while flipping through channels.

Even if I havent watched full games its all the same, 4 guys stand around while they feed the ball inside to their best player, he dribbles around and takes a shot, every once in awhile he will pass and another guy gets to shoot.

I agree with this. I really think yesterday's OU/OSU game was a play in. OU is out and OSU is in.

The quality of play in the NBA is miles ahead of college. It's not even debatable. Again, it doesn't shock me at all to hear you haven't watched a game for 20 years.

Arizona (NBA) and Xavier (tons of 2017-2018 graduation) will be down compared to where they are now. Auburn could be up, Duke has the best recruiting class ever coming in, the Zags are always really, really good, SDSU returns a lot, Illinois will be better..

If we go .500 in Maui I'd be over the moon thrilled!

No, this is why you should just stop posting.
