Expectations for 2018-2019

So I take it you didn't listen to Prohm's interview after the game on the radio where he specifically said that Monte and Georges will be coming in this summer to help. And they were in contact with him this week before the game. I would tend to believe that. So I don't see what is funny here.
Fair enough, but to think either of them, with the summer schedule of an NBA player, or even more so guys who are battling for the NBA, will spend enough time working with a player to really develop them is tough. I have faith in our staff to develop guys and I feel like that's what we will really help.

And why is that? Maybe if Prohm would actually bring in Big 12 level players instead of Beverly and guys like Holden we wouldnt have these issues.

So you agree that your line about amazing depth was made up?

You are appearing that way in this thread

So you think we've had good depth since May of 2015 when Prohm was hired? We are barely putting 6 players on the floor in the 3 years since hes been here. At least under Hoiberg we had guys like Naz, Thomas, Nader start off on the bench giving us some good depth.

No and I never said that

Yes and no. I see your point and I agree that our staff will be the big influence, but remember that both Georges and Naz hold basketball camps for kids in Ames. Even 2 weeks with the right people working the right things is a huge benefit, and knowing where Naz, Niang, and Morris have been and where they are now would be a huge influence. Prohm pointed out in the interview it's about Iowa State not the individual. They need to take pride in Iowa State all around and buy in to the system completely which coming from guys that have been through it, still show amazing school spirit and are working toward their dreams (which more than likely includes the dreams of those in the program now) would be huge.

Thats what I've been reading on here for the last 3 seasons and it never materializes. Next year looks good on paper for depth but its too bad it took 4 years to actually build a complete roster.

Let's see some evidence. So many of us were bummed bc we could have had Beifeldt (sp?) from Michigan, but coaching change threw that out. Was it the unranked Ernst or the 3 star Carter that got everybody talking about great depth that first year?

Yeah, it is kind of funny. But in reality I do think there is the most potential for good depth next year then Prohm's first few years. I think you can count on these players playing major minutes next year: Babb, Wigginton, Shayok, Horton-Tucker, Jacobson, Young and Lard. I think Talley and Lewis will provide minutes as well.

Lol, I dont have time to dig through threads from 3 years ago. I can tell you people were gushing over the roster like they do now. Im pretty sure you could find a few posts where people thought guys like Ernst and Carter would be playing significant minutes.

Every year under Prohm we are going to have all this great depth, yet year 3 and we still have 6 or 7 actual Big 12 caliber players in the rotation.

Topping yourself is not a good thing. In fact you should probably feel bad for your lack of understanding. The rest of us do

As far as the team, more good players in the system provides more options for the coaches. There will be improvement just from that.

If they’re going to take a giant step a few things have to happen.

Will Lindell work to take the challenge to be the best player on the floor every night?

Will Cameron grow as a person and develop as a player to be coachable and challenge for all conference honors.

Can the injured guys come back truly healthy, and not have nagging injuries after surgery.

Will the transfers have a major impact, or will they be complimentary pieces?

Finally, this was the first truly bad year he’s had as a coach, can Prohm learn from the mistakes that he made this year? Can he grow into the role of a coach at a basketball school in a power conference? I think he gets time to build this thing, and he should. But how does he recover from the jolt of a bad season?

Those answers will determine how far they go next year.

the only reason prohm should get a little pass is because of injuries.
he seems like a really bad coach to me
i do acknowledge his recruiting is okay
does he even coach offense?
the big 12 is terrible year after year in the big dance
will be even worst this year
we finished 10th dead last in a very crappy conference
serious post here i really think he is bad
i so hope im wrong and you can pull this post back up next year and the whole board can laugh at me; ill laugh at myself
we finally saw a little anger from him in the oklahoma game; he was mad at brace for doing something or other; this whole golly gee lets be humble; whatever you get paid the big bucks at a premier basketball school wake up man and start exerting your will
the monte and niang year he was like well im not going to change anything; im not going to exert my will at all this is about the players blah blah
you are paid to manage this team; manage them
This might be the dumbest post ever on this site.

Oh, for sure, next year we should finally have a full roster capable of contributing and if an injury occurs we should have the experience to plug in guys without losing much. Im as excited about next year's roster as anybody, just trying to point out that it will have taken Prohm 3 1/2 years to actually build an entire Big 12 roster.

You should give up on Cyclone basketball and just follow the Bulls full time like a good Fred bootlicker should. You're worse than a Hawk troll here.

You can find a few posters on here to fit about any narrative. The idea a lot of posters were gushing over our depth these past few years is absurd.
