Down goes Freddy

If you look at the details he’s not taking very much less money at all.

Correct, but similar deal to what Michigan did with Harbaugh. Allows the AD to make it look like he got a pound of flesh, and the coach recognizes the team has under achieved and didn't earn his past salary.

Basically, the underachieving prodigal son discount.

Carry on, my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more ....

Fans can complain about their coaches but their Athletic Department has made the most boneheaded contract extensions in sports. Giving BOTH Frost and Hoiberg contract extensions after historically bad seasons is beyond dumb. They deserve paying these massively stupid buyouts.

I will counter with one of my favorite new quotes………

”Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”

Not by much. Buyout goes from 18 million to 11 million. Pretty sure after next year the buyout was going to go to 13 million any way.

In the world of college athletics not much maybe, but that 2 million would go a long ways in my world.

Rough morning for all the Hoiberg haters out there.

Good win for the Huskers, certainly. Ohio State will make the tournament. Seems Hoiberg has some extra wind in his sails after the official announcement he's going to come back.

But the Buckeyes have stepped on a Lego two games in a row now --

lost 60-75 to Maryland (a Quad 2 loss)
lost 70-78 against Nebraska (a Quad 4 loss)

I wonder if there is something wrong on their end.

They also got beat pretty convincingly by Iowa in their own gym. They will be a trendy upset pick on everybody's bracket.

Watch, they'll probably make an Elite 8 run now.

Happy for Fred, regardless.

Pains me to say it, but Iowa is a good team. They're one of the better wins (though not the best, that is almost certainly Texas Tech) on Iowa State's schedule. Dropping a game against them at home is certainly annoying but not a horrifying indictment to lose at home to a probable #6 or #7 seed.

Maryland and Nebraska suck, though.

Torvik game scores the last five for Ohio State

68 = Iowa
94 = Indiana
95 = Illinois
39 = Maryland
27 = Nebraska

The 68 is bad but a 39 and 27 in a row late in the season like this would concern me if I liked TOSU.

Two in a row for Nebby. Fred is playing 4D Chess. Going to sweep the BIG tourney and get an NCAA invite making history to be the first team to win the Natty with a losing record.
