Countdown untill the beatdown!!!

I'd happily take a win. Weird stuff happens in rivalry games, and to assume a beatdown is Hok fan-level irrational confidence.

Just win, move on, and hope Iowa's crap season doesn't drag down the RPI.

I get what you're saying, but we're a top 5 team playing an unranked team at home, where we have one of the best home court advantages in all of the sport, and where we've only lost three times to two teams in the last three years.

I think it's time we start believing we're worthy of that rank we've got and stop being afraid of every team that comes in here (as fans, I don't think our players are afraid of anyone.)

I'm always wary of rivalry games, but we crushed Iowa on their home floor last year without McKay. We're improved from last year IMO and they are a step down with their two best players from that team gone.

I don't expect Iowa to win this one I just hope they make it more competitive than last season. I don't know what to make of this team yet. They played Notre Dame and Dayton tight and those two will make the NCAA tournament. They ran Marquette and Wichita State off the court, and gutted out a win against a tough Florida State team. It will come down to their 3 point shooting I think. They will need to shoot well from 3 to keep it close.

Their losses to Dayton and Notre Dame are worth more to brag about than their wins over Wichita or FSU. FSU is not good and Wichita State was missing their most valuable player. Dayton and Notre Dame are legit teams and Iowa played them pretty well, just couldn't come away with the W.

Scouting report to me on Iowa is pretty simple. Don't double down on Woodbury...EVER! Let him shoot the ball 25 times if he wants. Run Jok off the three point line all night long. He is horrible finishing at the rim. Don't bail him out with fouls he's a great shooter at the foul line. Make someone other than Uthoff beat you. Deny him the ball. Would like to see us throw Nader and McKay at him defensively all game.

Do these things on the defensive end ISU wins by 15 + pretty easily. The intensity is going to be there on the defensive end our first noteworthy home game of the year the energy will be there.

I do think ISU is a better team than compared to last year at this time, but I also feel we played with a lot of emotion because we rallied due to the BDJ suspension so last year is a little misleading.

Also, Iowa is better overall from what I've seen, although they do seem inconsistent

All I know is that Prohm is finally going to get a taste of how crazy and loud Hilton can get. Maybe not Kansas game levels, but still a giant step up from what he's experienced so far.

I literally only worry about foul trouble. other than that, zero worries.

Foul trouble will cause issues at some point this year but I just don't see it against Iowa. Woodbury is literally a statue out there. The guy doesn't create many fouls. Uthoff has become more of a jump shooter than anything else. Jok wants nothing more than to sit on the three point arch and throw up threes. I just don't see foul troube being an issue in this game.

Couple thoughts....I agree with others that foul trouble is only concern but vs Iowa I don't see that happening honestly. Iowa losing Dale Jones for year really hurts their bench scoring from 3..he was a decent bench contributor. Gessel can only score from 3 or driving to the right...every player should over play Gessel to his right...he can't do anything to his left...ever..ever. Had Iowa lost to FSU they would be looking at this game as an absolute must win honestly for NCAA reasons. I know it's early but you can't lose to 2 unranked teams in the non conf IMO...but they won..although a win vs ISU on road will greatly help their resume. WTS..they have 2 guys that a true offensive concerns..Jok from 3 and Uthoff.

If Isu stays out of weird foul trouble I don't see how Iowa s able to guard Niang, Nader, and McKay honestly.

But like others have said just win the day.

Just attack whichever player Jok is guarding, will he guard Georges or Nader? Either guy should be able to abuse him.

If I was Fran I'd put Jok on Naz. I love Naz, but he's our easiest starter to defend. Which is really a testament to how good and versatile the other 4 are.

Well, not sure that'd make much sense, since he'd be blowing kisses to his own fans....

To me, if you're still working on winning today, you're a procrastinator. I'm already working on winning Tuesday.

He blew iowa state fans a kiss his freshman year against west virginia
