I doubt he hires Fleck, but if he did I would be excited to see what he could do. He is a really ambitious guy. He would challenge the Athletic Department to be more creative on gameday and has a great stadium to use to do it. We may even get cool uni's. Who knows.

That said, I could see fritz or Monken first.

Well, JP had a salt of the earth, everyman, old school guy in Paul Rhoads. That didn't work.

A lot of AD's don't get the chance to hire 3 football coaches. He might need to try something different.


Does that mean he will? Probably not. If he hires Fritz I'll be pretty happy. He can coach and he's built programs. But he might not have as high a ceiling as a risky guy like Fleck.

Fleck in an interview really wanted to get the community of Kalamazoo to be involved in the program so maybe a place like Ames where there may not be a ton of tradition, but has a ton of support would be attractive to him. Who knows.

I'm not against Fritz either or Monken or Wells for that matter. All good Coaches.
 
If Pollard is flying Chicago - Detroit - Atlanta (presumably starting in DSM, to boot), he needs to fire whoever is booking his flights.
 
I'd also like to say that I don't see it likely we hire someone next week, I only say this because a lot of teams still have to play another game next week. I know coaches will leave before the bowl game but do any ever leave before their 12th game? Willie Fritz is an example of a coach that has to coach another game next week.
 
Based on my conversation with someone in the Alford circle, I am pretty confident he will not be the one.

Jeremy stated last night that it seemed like there was some bad blood between Alford and the Athletic department. Not sure what that would be but he said he was pretty confident that Alford wasnt being considered for the position.

Ok I didn't see that post. I just finally talked to someone from Ankeny who talks to Tony or Trina almost every week.
