There is alot to be said for the differences between coaching college VS the NFL game. That said the list of coaches who have taken the shot when offered is much longer than those that have said no. History has also proven that it's tough to judge what's in a coaches heart based on public comments.

When you think about it if OSU, ND, and the Browns all have openings it would be the absolute PERFECT storm for Campbell to leave. If all 3 of those jobs open and he's still here come next September then I think it's realistic to think he's here for the long haul.

This isn’t correct. Not many NFL coaches come from the college ranks.

And it’s even rarer for a guy to make the jump with no NFL experience. I can think of 3 current NFL coaches who were head coaches in college. All of them had prior NFL experience and one staged a coup to get his job.

That's not what I'm saying. Im saying when college guys get NFL offers they usually take them.

No ****. A team isn’t going to publicly make it known they’ve made an offer unless they’re sure they’re going to sign the deal. In the NFL or college. Your point makes no sense. How many times have you seen a team anywhere publicly make an offer to a coach and get turned down?

Campbell is not like other college coaches. Campbell was attracted to Iowa State because of the passion of Cyclone Nation and the support we had for a losing team. Actually told his wife that if the Iowa State job opened up that he would consider it because of that reason. Campbell actually puts most of his money into retirement and savings. Campbell is not really an NFL type coach in that he is motivated by relationships and a code of conduct and discipline that you rarely get in the pro game. Campbell loves the recruiting process and likes molding young men into individuals with high character and good morals. It is all about Culture. Just don’t see him leaving Iowa State real soon. Maybe someday. And if so, then you pick up someone from the same cloth.

Audio isn’t great, but you can clearly hear “you’re an inspiration to me” from Campbell

Campbell sounds like a man who would like to build Iowa State into what Bill Snyder built at K-State. Both men obviously have a lot of respect for each other. You could feel it.

Does CMC seem like the type of HC that would want to be at a job where he as zero control over the players on his team? Or does he seem like the type of HC who is the CEO who decides who is in his program and who isnt?

I’d say the latter if you know CMC at all....in the NFL...Scouts, GM, Agents and President decide your roster.

The guy is 39 years old....I don’t think he’s quite ready to destroy his career by going to the Browns quite yet.

I think CMC is more likely to take the Browns job if offered, than the OSU job.

I suspect this is correct. Regardless of any personal bais regarding the NFL vs college you can't intelligently argue against the NFL being the peak of the profession. Cleveland is also a really attractive job at this point. Add on the fact he grew up 50 miles from Cleveland and it has to be pretty tempting. It's also a much less risky career move to jump from ISU to the NFL as opposed to OSU or ND.
