Boys State BB Tournament

Are people forgetting that Linn-Mar has 3 DI players on their team? They will be the hardest team Ames has faced all season, and many of you think Ames can beat them handily if they play awful?

Not to mention they just sent players to Wisconsin, Wyoming, and Gonazaga. This is their sixth straight trip to Des Moines and they are something like 125-20 in the last six years. This is a team with LOADS of experience. They are the best basketball program in the state this decade. I feel people are underestimating them. I'm not saying Linn-Mar will win, but it wouldn't be crazy if they did.

One bad coaching job by Vance downs has the capability of determining whether the Little Cyclones are State Champs. See 2008 Substate vs. Marshalltown for example.
 
I'm more interested in the 3-A games. Harlan is a great team, but gotta cheer for Norwalk to make some noise. They have a team, when clicking, that can compete with almost anyone. Don't be suprise to see them do something.

My gf's brother plays for New Hampton, who got the 8 seed in 3A. They have Heelan in the first round, and I highly doubt they'll get past that game. They knocked #3 Crestwood (Cresco) out in the district tourney but I would guess they're probably in for a rough one....
 
Well an upset in Game #1 (not a shocker to me though) Cedar Falls NUH defeates top seeded Adair Casey 58-50.

Wow, I didn't know any of this stuff. It sounds like an Ames victory is NOT a foregone conclusion. LinnMar sounds pretty tough, are they undefeated?
 
Look for the Carroll/Marion game tonight to be a close one, Carroll can hit the outside shot like nobody's business

Unfortunate timing. I'm not going to lecture because I know what my HS team got into on the weekends. However, if memory serves me correctly, we were pretty well behaved before going into state as a top seed.

I understand why it makes the news, but you know there were thousands of high school athletes across the state at parties just like his. Spotlight is on him because he just so happened to get caught. Again, bad decision and even worse timing.

Honestly would like to see him be able to play. Linn-Mar is probably the only team in the state that can give Ames a run for their money and they need to be full strength to do it. Would love to see that match up at state.
 
If he doesn't play they have a 0% chance of beating Ames if they were to advance.
