State basketball is here. Was surprised to see that CR Kennedy lost last night, only scored 35 points too. With them out I'd say it's almost a lock for Linn-mar vs. Ames in the championship game. I'm biased, but I don't see how Ames doesn't win State (knock on wood). What's everyone think?

I have been saying all year the only way Ames loses a game between now and March 2010 is to be unfocused or injury.
As a johnston grad, I'm rather surprised they made it. I really think the CIML besides a few team is down talent wise. I might have to make a trip down to The Well to watch Urbandale-Johnston round 3.
I don't know much about Linn-Mar, but Ames has pretty much dominated everyone thus far, including Cedar Falls twice, who beat Linn-Mar.
They didn't the 2nd time, the first time was ugly. But interesting thing about the Johnston-Urbandale series, is no team has gone 3-0 against the other when having to play three times in a season. The last occurance was a few years back, urbandale swept johnston during the season, but when substate came around, Johnston won, but then proceeded to get thrashed by an average Ankeny team.
after we beat east tonight, SC West running the table. Ok so not really but as a west grad the fact that we have a shot to go to state is awesome!
Linn Mar and Ames would match up fairly well if Ames didnt have HB. Linn Mar would be the better team IMO, they have a lot of talent. HB puts Ames over the top. My prediction Ames 72 LinnMar 60
I have to give a shout out for the high school that I graduated from, Central Lee.
Central Lee is located in Southeast Iowa and is in class 2A. The boys basketball team made the state tournament for the first time in school history. They will be playing top ranked Solon. Here's hoping for a huge upset!

I will take Ames giving up the 12 ANY day. Linn Mar won't even be within 12 at the half.
Linn-Mar lost to Cedar Falls in the regular season finale. The game was close if I remember right and the refs were well...interesting and Ed Hightower like. Linn-Mar will most likely play them in the first round next wednesday night at 6:30. Cedar Falls is hot right now and playing good basketball but I think the Lions will win with their experience at state. If the Lions win I beleive it will be an Ames Linn-Mar final with Ames winning in a close one.
