***Big 10 Thread***

Only way to disengage is to not have twitter or cancel their accounts so they can’t respond to that kind of crap.

Their fans need to grow up, but Fran ought to be telling his kids not to engage. It's not a good look at all, and is not going to help the situation in the slightest.

Not exactly surprised that they respond/post like that. Bad mix of societal influences and genes.

What's the Twitter version of kicking something off a scorers' table?

I get that, but I mean, surely Fran sees that this is a no win situation, right? There is zero way that his sons responding angrily to fans on Twitter can be a good thing. I mean there's no way to spin this as a positive. You would think he would tell his kids that. I mean, he might still tell them that it's their choice on how they want to respond, but you would think he would at least spell it out to them that there's no way to win. I can't imagine a scenario where they wouldn't have at least discussed it. So that means that either his sons don't care about the potential negatives of responding, or that Fran is just fine with it. Either of those options speak volumes.

Or they're all like a lot of other people out there that don't have the self awareness of knowing how bad it looks, or get off on triggering negative responses.

I don't think it takes much awareness at all, to recognize that your kid arguing with fans about your ability to do your job is a no win situation. I can't imagine he doesn't realize that. And if he doesn't realize that, that's almost scarier.

If he doesn't realize that, it may be time to move on.

Tweeting negatives at players is stupid, and those who do it are idiots.
Absolutely. However, you have to know that it's going to happen. Responding to it, and drawing attention to it, only serves to stoke the fire.

Personally, I think Fran is in DGAF mode, right now. He probably sees the writing on the wall. I can't imagine he likes his job all that much right now. The possibility of him no longer being the coach at Iowa is probably something that has been in his thoughts, and perhaps he's not so broken up about that. He knows that wherever he goes, he's got two players that will follow him. A mid major school on the east coast would probably be pretty happy to have him. So, when Patrick starts going back and forth with some dbags on Twitter, maybe Fran is just sort of okay with that.

I think the same thing. Maybe one of the Philly schools will call him up. Obviously not Nova, St Joe’s, or Temple but maybe the crappy ones like Lasalle or Drexel.

Haven’t read whole thread, but sad Franny’s seat is getting hot. According to the Rag this week, he was right behind KF as second highest paid public employee.

The weird thing for me anyway is that both Barta and assistant he discriminated against and fired were on the the top ten list and Pollard was not. We are definitely getting a bigger bang for our buck from the Athletic Department.
