Aging Parents

Just a quick update... Dad seems to be coming back really well. His speech therapy is working wonders.... most of the time he sounds just like he has my whole life. He is doing laps around the community mailbox and doesn't use the walker much anymore... His wife has had a tougher time... she has developed Pleural Effusion as a byproduct of Congestive Heart Failure.... but no imminent threat... just more of the slow decline.

Dad sold his car and he seems ok with that.... he did get a golf cart to go around the campus. They seem to be getting used to having the in house help for an hour or two each day. They help him navigate Instagram so he he can follow my daughter as she travels from Denver to Turkey, to Spain, to Morocco, to Indonesia over the summer... He liked that a lot.

My sister had my mom move closer to her to take care of her. I'm afraid my in-laws will end up with my wife's brother since he has a big enough house, but I'm really concerned about how his wife and (to a lesser extent) he will treat them. I would rather we do it.
My father now lives in an assisted living individual apartments facility five minutes from my oldest sister, and that is working out well. My mother-in-law lives at home still, but one of her daughters lives with her and another lives several blocks away. Lew goes down there weekly (50 minutes one way) to do chores & just visit. A third sister lives about 20 minutes from their mom and helps out occasionally. The other six kids are pretty much missing in action.
