Agreed. Also a bad look for Coach K losing to Mercer. He’s probably not a hall of fame coach now for that. That’s better than Fred losing to a midmajor we should always beat. No loss in the past 7 years has been more disappointing from a coaching perspective than UAB. Not a good look for Hoiberg.

And Norfolk State. Who does that back to back?
Coach K has lost to good P5 teams in the Sweet 16, so he was never Hall of Fame material anyways.Agreed. Also a bad look for Coach K losing to Mercer. He’s probably not a hall of fame coach now for that.
Losing by 18 to Milwaukee has to rank up there?
13-14 was disappointing because the ending was due to an injury. 14-15 was disappointing because of the 2nd place Big 12 finish, Big 12 Tourney Champs but getting beat by UAB.
15-16 was disappointing because of the 6th place (10-8) regular season and first round exit in the Big 12 tourney. The Sweet 16 appearance was great and we beat who we had to beat to get there and did so in convincing fashion.
Have they ever scored on an out of bounds play after a time out?
I know when Morris graduated, point I'm trying to make is they both were veterans and upperclassmen by that point.
And yeah, losing Naz did hurt that year, I just think he was about the 6th or 7th most talented player on that team, we should have been able to absorb that better.
I couldn't have even guessed what the regular season conference finishes of those years were. Literally meaningless to me. '15 they were a 3 seed and '16 they were a 4 seed. In the eyes of the committee, they were basically almost exactly the same quality of team.
The difference is that one made the Sweet 16 and one lost a historic upset game in the first round of the tournament.
How an ISU fan can be disappointed with a sweet 16 season is utterly mind blowing to me. And I went to Chicago to watch us get our butt kicked live too.
So 15-6 (2014-15) between regular season/post season Big 12 is somehow worse than 10-9 (2015-16) because a team played poorly for a single day. Body of work people.
Lots of dumb in this thread which is saying something coming from me
Look, I get your point about body of work, and I agree with you. But, if people are honestly crapping on Prohm-coached teams for winning NCAA tournament games against double-digit, mid-major teams (and I repeat, crap on a coach and team for WINNING GAMES in the NCAA tournament, which is one of the five dumbest things I've ever seen on this board), then people can definitely crap on the '14-15 team for losing an NCAA tournament game that we had no business losing.
That's only fair, is it not?
Tournament is a crapshoot, to say that season was a total bust because we played horribly against UAB is just as ridiculous as my point of view. I like to look at an entire body of work.
I don't know. It's not as if expectations were through the roof for this year's team, but it still shouldn't happen. I do know that an early season drubbing pales in comparison to being one of the top eight seeded teams in the tournament and losing in the first round. Not even close. I was pissed after the MIlwaukee game, but I felt physically ill after the UAB game. Huge difference.

The only fan boards I frequent are this one and PantherNation.com (UNI), so I don't have a great sample size to compare them to, but I would say (with some bias) that I think by and large, we are a pretty intelligent groups of fans compared to the larger population as a whole. And it does seem like national sports media who focus on college basketball, as well as the occasional coach, are very complimentary of the fans at Hilton for being knowledgeable.
With that being written, probably because most of our fans are fairly intelligent and know what they're talking about, when someone writes or says something that is just plain stupid, it really stands out.
I specifically remember when Prohm was hired, there were a couple of posters (and to be fair, I don't think jersebib or rochclone were the guilty culprits) who were so incensed at the hiring that they wrote they could never cheer for ISU basketball or follow it again. For some reason, these posters hated mid-majors more than either the Jayhawks or the Hawkeyes, and HOW DARE ISU HIRE A MID-MAJOR COACH???!!!!??? HOW DARE WE!
It was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. When CycloneFanatic.com gets stupid, it gets really, really, stupendously stupid.
