Firing Hoiberg that summer was a huge mistake! o_O If Jamie hadn't done that so late in the year Prohm could have gotten some guys in that incoming class!

Well, makes as much sense as some of the Hoiberg is god and Prohm is trash argument.

Obviously, it wasn’t. That’s why the pining and revision is silly. I love Fred, but if he wanted to be here, he’d be making more money than he is now if that was what was required.

Prohm is the coach for the foreseeable future. He deserves a chance to transition into what he wants.

Final thing from me on this point. CSP will have his opportunity to transition this program in whatever direction he sees fit. Pollard will make sure of that. Hopefully he continues to recruit Big 12 players and balance the classes. If he take us to NCAA tournaments in 4 out of every 5 years I will be content.

Us fans will continue to support the program and players no matter who the head coach is now or in the future.

13-14 was disappointing because the ending was due to an injury. 14-15 was disappointing because of the 2nd place Big 12 finish, Big 12 Tourney Champs but getting beat by UAB.

15-16 was disappointing because of the 6th place (10-8) regular season and first round exit in the Big 12 tourney. The Sweet 16 appearance was great and we beat who we had to beat to get there and did so in convincing fashion.

We are all disappointed when our team loses. Some value the regular season more than others. Some value the NCAA tournament. Perhaps there is not a right answer.

But the statement that Fred would be making more than 6 million if he was here is patently false. JP would never have allowed that and his comments before Fred left made that very clear.

Go Cyclones!!

Final point from me also, then I have to go to work.

Prohm has alot of work to do. We've already seen signs of the program taking a downturn.

I'm hopeful for next year but you also have to be prepared if things arent getting back to tourney level either.

I think we'll be much improved but may be missing out again if some things don't improve.

I'm a big fan of you Roch but saying 2015-16 was a disappointment isn't a good look.

Losing by 18 to Milwaukee has to rank up there?

I don't know. It's not as if expectations were through the roof for this year's team, but it still shouldn't happen. I do know that an early season drubbing pales in comparison to being one of the top eight seeded teams in the tournament and losing in the first round. Not even close. I was pissed after the MIlwaukee game, but I felt physically ill after the UAB game. Huge difference.

Agree. That team was good but top heavy as ****. No depth on that squad. Six guys were worth a damn, and that was only after McKay pulled his head out of his ass sometime around late February.

Why? Because I said I wasn't happy with the Virginia game? Plenty happened that year before we even got to that point thst led to me being frustrated with Prohm .
Because you’ve based your arguments on Prohm losing one game to a good UVa team in the Sweet 16, a year after Hoiberg choked with a better roster against a bad midmajor in the first round.

You’ll likely retreat to your weak conference record argument, but there’s no appreciable difference in season quality between going 10-8 and 12-6, with the win difference likely being attributable to a coaching transition and no Naz or McKay.

Moreover, if you’re nitpicking successful seasons, do not forget Hoiberg had similar “disappointing” conference records with just as good of teams. The Kane year needed two miracle Naz shots to avoid 9-9 (again, Naz would have made a big difference in 2016). It’s a shame the White team had to face a loaded UK team in the second round, and the following year we never should have been on the bubble facing OSU in the second round. Those two years should have had at least one Sweet 16, if not further.

There are things to be concerned about, but how Prohm did with guys trained in Hoiball isn’t one of them.

When McKay was crying on Twitter after we won the early season tournament it made me nervous of things to come.

The point isn't that we shouldn't appreciate that team or the Sweet 16 appearance. The issue is that 10-8 in the Big 12 was our floor in the 4 years prior and that team was as talented or more talented then those other squads. That 15-16 squad was 2-7 in Big 12 play in games decided by 5 points or less.

That speaks directly to depth.
