2023-24 ISU WBB Season Thread

Newest Creme bracket out and has as 1 of last four in. Matchups are obviously unlikely to be the case but he has us in an 11 play in game against Vandy from earlier this year and if we advance we'd face lexi and unc.

Just don't call them play-in-games. ;)

I thought I saw that's it's Gold Rules on Saturday, but I can't find the post. Can anyone confirm?

Boo, no game tonight so sharing this image from an ISU Facebook posting. Really like it.

Might be worth considering whether this young team might be better served by a run through the NIT, though I hope we finish strong for a top 40 seed in the dance.
It all hinges on how they close the second half. This team is capable of winning every game. They are also faced with the likelihood of struggling to that WNIT berth. This is what makes it like that Wild World of Sports commercial…the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.

If we do end up in the WNIT, one advantage is the likelihood of more games for Emily Ryan to chase the career assists record, since we are more likely to advance further there than in the NCAA Tournament.

Be nice to see her get it in four seasons. She does have the Covid year option, but that (IMO) puts an asterisk next to any records set.

You bring the old ABC Sports ad into mind.

So, this weekend they are celebrating 50 years of ISU women's basketball. Anyone know if there are other activities than perhaps a halftime recognition?

Thinking about Wednesday's game versus a very good KSU team. They’ve shown even without Lee, they can play with the best. I think they make me more nervous without Lee than with her matching up against our sisters. They will be guard centric and will be very quick, two things that we have had difficulty matching against. They have the outside shooters and will likely force us to defend five players with four as crooks will be left standing in the middle doing "nothing" on defense. Will definitely be, in my opinion, the toughest matchup of the season.

Bored so looked at the latest Big 12 NET. Not like it's going to change much at this point in the season. We've been hovering around the same general number for weeks. Our 6th is about the same as our standing at 5th. Baylor is still up in NET. All of the top Big 12 teams are crazy good at home but Texas and Sooners are an impressive 8-1 and 7-1 on the road.

For all of the talk of doubting the team vs exceeding expectations and all of the other yadda yadda yadda, we're right about where the coaches picked us to be in the Big 12 pre-season poll.
