12/15/2008-Official Head Coaching Search Thread

I would prefer that we hired a minority from the standpoint that it would help recruiting. The biggest thing we have been lacking is speed. Ames is a hard place to recruit to. It would be an advantage to offer players something other schools can't. There are several deserving candidates out there - even if we don't get Gill.
I hope we don't recruit anyone from Chicago.:err:

Official Head Coaching Search Thread - Muschamp

Muschamp will be next head coach. He was going to take the Auburn job but wanted to directly report to President instead of A.D.

Pollard may be willing to do this and we get the next greatest head coach available. People, think big here. We can do better than a MAC coach with a mediocre record. 8-5 in the MAC isn't as good as 9-3 in the Big 12 and that ISU coach is gone.

This is the Big 12, and if anyone still thinks it is on par with the MAC as that dumb ESPN analyst who said he thought ISU was a lateral move for Turner, they just shouldn't be talking about football - let alone get paid to do so.

No more coordinators from the Big 12 South. No. No. No. Also, why the hell would the head coach in waiting at TEXAS bolt and come here, unless he planned on using us for a quick lay, and then slap us across the face with his contraceptive device, like cheesedick did?

A little more graphic than I would have gone with, but it would be a bad idea to hire him. We know that any coach might leave, but he is a guarantee to go. He has is current title because they know Brown will retire in the next few years.

Those guys are so overrated aren't they?:biglaugh:

Who Is The Next Look Of Iowa State Football?

I want to hear all of your thoughts. We need someone who is willing to stay and realizes they have their work cut out for them. I think Turner Gill is the man that can do that. He turned around a very poor Buffalo team and now they are MAC champions. Let me hear your thoughts on this...

Re: Who Is The Next Look Of Iowa State Football?

Chris Peterson, Todd Graham...those have to be calls to make.

Peterson is making over a mil at BSU and loves it there. I don't see him leaving unless it's for a high profile program.

While they may make great coaches, I don't think I'm on the bandwagon for an OU/Texas/other top program assistant. These guys are used to having top notch talent. When they come to Ames, that won't be the case. We need someone who can do more with less...Gill fits that bill perfectly, as does Graham, etc.

You mean like maybe an Asian?

The ISU coaching dream team:

Gill as Head Coach
Rhoads as DC
A monkey could be our OC for how good Rhoads is...

If Gill is aiming for Nebraska or another prominent job and is coming here to prove himself at a BCS school, then one of the best defensive coordinators in the nation with ISU roots could take the controls and be here forever.

Anyone read the ISU Confidential forums? Supposedly Paul Clark from CycloneReport.com has three names that Pollard's contacted...but it's a pay to see scenario. :nah:

I think we're all overlooking Erik Campbell because he spent the last year at Iowa. 12 years alongside Lloyd Carr, leading the best receivers in the nation, and being around a consistent winner means something, methinks.

If nothing else, it would keep Darks, Johnson, and Jones around.

I read somewhere that his salary goes to 2.5 mil either next year or the year after regardless if Mack Brown retires or not so he isnt going anywhere.
