NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

I have a feeling Jones isn’t going to be in KC past this year.

I hope that is not the case, the guy is a beast and you can't just replace a force like him on the line. He's one of the top guys at his position and it's a position that you usually can't just replace in free agency or the draft and get that kind of production.

If your going to have the next man in attitude w/ Mahomes, I don't see how $30m long term is worth it for a DT. I know hes a top end talent, but also getting on his third contract and will not last end of contract. If you can get a first for him by an NFC team go for it. Continue to get younger on the Dline.

Yeah I just don’t think he is going to take what the chiefs can offer.

Turk Wharton off of PUP list and practicing today. That is huge news since Jones remains out. Defense seems like has potential to be pretty good this year, that is if Jones plays.

Skyy Moore getting a ton of buzz this year. Sounds like he could have a break out year for the Chiefs. Sounds like Ross has a good chance of getting on the 53 man this year which is really cool. Matt Bushman has been getting rave reviews for his hands. Another possible 53 man surprise.

I know last year he and Mahomes were just a bit off but he looked like he could flourish in this system. Some of the timing just seemed off, but maybe they got in sync in the offseason.

Hoping he is not returning kicks this year unless he's made some huge strides in that area. He botched several last year and it was a clear improvement when they acquired Toney to take over the return duties.

Richie James is looking like the primary punt returner right now and Deneric Prince as the kick off returner.

The Justyn Ross Hype Train is almost at seating capacity...

I still have a hard time seeing this kid being more than the #6-7 WR right now. Maybe with Toney not being ready week one, he makes the roster. Otherwise they need to either keep 7 or cut Watson and I'm not sure they'll do that. He still seems like a prime practice squad candidate simply to see if he can handle the rigors of an entire NFL season.

My WR projections based on everything I've read from camp

MVS
Toney
Moore
James
Rice
Watson
Ross

Only other name I've seen get much pub is Cornell Powell.

They tried so hard to get a washed Josh Gordon to play well in KC. They want a big body on the outside and Ross is likely the best option.

MVS is 6'4", just like Ross. If they see Ross as MVS's eventual replacement in a year, I'm fine with that assuming he is physically up to it. MVS is cuttable next year with only around $2 million in dead cap.

Sad thing is none of those names are more than a #3 WR on a lot of teams so if Mahomes wins another MVP with that group it will be impressive. Toney and Moore have the most upside talent of the group but Toney has injury issues and Moore had a case of the drops last year as a rookie. Both need to take big steps forward this season if the Chiefs are going to repeat.

I'd say a few would be decent #2s on several teams. Not every one has a Chase/Higgins combo. And with Kelce, having a bunch of 2's isn't the worst thing.

Rice has been looking good so far and James has been showing out too. Moore technically only had 1 official drop last year. He didn't have a lot of targets, so it probably stood out. HIs worst problem was punt returns and he shouldn't be anywhere near those this year barring injuries.

Well that was an interesting way to lose.

Beside first team defense getting steamrolled, turned into a good game.

WR room got a little more interesting.
