How could a Twins-Yankees playoff series possibly go wrong for the Twins?

They gotta be due, right? Right?

Heard Travis and Ross talk about this today, the Mets have a $344 mil payroll and are 8 games under .500 16 games back in the NL East and 8.5 games out of the Wild Card. Think some front office and Buck Showalter are feeling a little heat right now? Next closest team are the Yankees at just under $280 mil. Not sure where Travis was getting his numbers from as he was saying the Yankees were $180 mil which is correct fro the 26 man roster but total payroll includes injured players as well as dead money. This site has a much better breakdown of total payroll numbers: MLB 2023 Payroll Tracker | Spotrac

Two of the best teams in baseball right now are 2 of the bottom 3 spenders in Tampa Bay and Baltimore. Interesting to see which teams are getting more bang for their buck right now.

Rockies should change their colors and brand identity to these green mountain unis they have tonight. Fits radically better with name. Just ditching the 90s purple is a quantum leap improvement.

Not been watching the Yanks but sporadically since they can't hit and Judge is out. Just not fun to watch unless Coles is starting. Decided to tune in during the 4th inning. Glad I stuck around to watch. Had a great breaking ball and was ahead of hitters all night. Couple nice plays by Rizzo at first. Rizzo's the only veteran other than Cole and Judge that hasn't underperformed this year.

It's hard to beat baseball bloggers for idiotic hot takes and the stupid write ups every week about who their teams should trade. I mostly read the Yankee blogs to laugh at the stupid takes.

Saw this take on German and found it not to be that stupid. Sort of caught some of what I feel about German. Kind of wish they had just dumped him but also want him to not suck since they elected to keep him.

This was the authors take after saying he pretty much hates German, which I get: "Germán twirled a perfect game, but Rizzo, DJ LeMahieu, Josh Donaldson, Anthony Volpe, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Harrison Bader, Giancarlo Stanton, Oswaldo Cabrera, and especially game-calling catcher Kyle Higashioka all played a perfect game and they should all be remembered just as fondly. They’re why I was rooting for perfection in the ninth. I wanted to see history. I wanted them to make history. And they did."

The defense definitely deserves a big call-out here, too. German "only" brought in 9 K's. Those other 18 outs came from somewhere.

I just tuned in to watch Tampa at Arizona but it is blacked out here in Iowa. WTF!
