***2023-24 MLB Off-Season Thread***

Before he was hurt Judge was on his pace of last year or we could have two guys (not juiced) hitting 60.

Yank fan but I do love me some Ohtani.

Not sure how many challenges a team gets but this seems like a pretty good and fast system.

Agree. Seems like the only question MLB should have is the number of allowed challenges. Would love see teams be able to challenge until they lose three decisions per game.

Trivia question on tonight's Yank game is "Five teams have multiple perfect games. Yanks are one, who are the others?"

I got nothing. Maybe Cards and Dodgers?

I know the white Sox have either 2 or 3. They've thrown 2 in the time I've been alive. Buerhle threw one and then some journeyman guy did and my cousin was at the game.

Lost a dollar bet that involved a no-hitter versus White Sox. White Sox buddy at work and I always had a token one dollar bet per game between our teams. When the Yanks Andy Hawkins no-hit the Sox and still lost the game my buddy framed the dollar bill and hung it in his cubicle.

Lot of little league defense or walks? I just read about it he lost 4-0 on a complete game no hitter.

To be fair he only had to pitch eight innings to get a complete game loss, so …

Here’s the box score. The White Sox scored all four runs with two out in the bottom of the 8th. Sosa reached on an error, stole second, then Hawkins walked two to load the bases. Back-to-back errors on fly balls, one to right and one to left, and the Sox got four runs.

Does it still make sense at home to play to tie a game in late innings? With the runner at 2nd rule for extras I am not so sure. Maybe still yes but less of an advantage later?

Can‘t let today pass without marking the anniversary of the 1985 Mets-Braves epic - the game didn’t start until after 9 pm on the 4th because of rain, then lasted over six hours. With fireworks after the game around 3 am.

(There’s so much going on in this clip … the Mets pitcher worried about which ball he has, it’s the 18th inning, just throw the damn thing; the fans getting up to leave when the count goes 0-2; the Mets outfielder with his hands on his head in disbelief; and of course, the Braves batboy dressed like a Native American)

That is amazing.

Yikes. Game I'm watching. Errant throw from Orioles SS sailed into the camera pit and hit the cameraman square in the forehead. He did wave at crowd when carted off so hopefully okay. He's looking down at viewscreen so understandable how he didn't react.

I saw that last night. Terrifying.

Wow. And some god awful defense. Damn, Milwaukee, that was ugly.
Yeah that was inexcusable. Reds were the better team today. Terrible balk call in the 9th on our new guy. Tumpane threw Counsell out over it when Counsell had his back turned and was stepping back into the dugout.

Fun series so far, gonna be a dogfight for first place the rest of the year.
