Working on Juneteenth?

2020 had the day off
2021 “day off” with no meetings but a series of ways to reflect like advocacy groups doing Zoom/Teams meetings, lectures from professors etc
2022 same as 2021
2023 nothing. Reflection/learnings are available and it was up to each manager to decide regarding time off. This was announced Friday at 6pm

what a total cop out by leadership to shove that on managers.

Current company gives MLK and President's Day but not today. However, my client that I'm 100% on has it off sooooooooooo I did the things I needed to do, prepped my performance review and now off to a serendipitously scheduled well child appt.

My company added a floating holiday in 2021 and encouraged people to use it for June teeth if they would like. In 2022 and 2023 it became an official company holiday, plus they let us keep the floating day. Not a bad deal.

This puts us at 10 holidays. Since they seem to be coming up a lot in the thread, we do get MLK, but we do not get Columbus or President's.

I just had lunch with a friend - he asked why I was working on a holiday. I had no honest clue what holiday he was talking about.
Did you ask him why he went out to eat when the server should have had it off also?

I’ve found it confusing for people upset about working on a holiday because they wanted to do other things on that day, which would require other people to work on that day.
