Working on Juneteenth?

Honestly I didn't even know companies gave it as a day off.

Either way it's certainly deserving of recognition.

Working. We get the bare minimum of holidays off (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day)

Ditto. Unfortunate side effect of working for (relatively) small and service based company. We do get one floating holiday a year, though. Well, technically three, but two are always used by the company so that you always get the friday after Thanksgiving, and an extra day for Christmas/Christmas Eve, depending on where in the week it falls.

Current company doesn't acknowledge the holiday, and likely won't.

Did you ask him why he went out to eat when the server should have had it off also?

I’ve found it confusing for people upset about working on a holiday because they wanted to do other things on that day, which would require other people to work on that day.

Yep the restaurant/seevice industry will surely have places open on Easter, Christmas Eve etc. I realize Easter is a Sunday but there's lots of weekend places closed too.

I work in the financial sector and we don’t have it off. Wife works in quasi gov and they don’t either. Maybe someday.

My wife works for a major financial institution. Her department is off, but many of their call centers are open.

Sure, but not as a paid holiday for state employees. Only about half the states have done that in the last couple of years.

My mom has refused to shop or eat out on holidays for a while because of this. Holidays are literally spent at home,

While that cool did you not take basic civics? State and Federal are different things. By design in fact.
