Does the B12 Tournament matter?

I've written from the start that this tournament matters to the fans and the coffers. Whether it does to the players and coaches is up for debate. King McClure said he had his doubts about the latter. Naturally, winning it is great for fan bravado.

Only ******* losers think these games don’t matter. Winning in your conference tournaments could jump you multiple seeds. Only ******* morons think it doesn’t matter. If OSU gets in, tell them that that the one win they got didn’t matter. Tell that to WVU who likely jumped a seed by winning. Tell that to the players of whomever ends up winning the tournament, that the tournament didn’t matter.

The mentality basically asserts no games matter unless they lead to you winning the conference regular season or in the NCAA tournament. Which is just completely false.

Gabe said they came down to KC to win the tournament. I guess it matters to our players and coaches.

It isn't a big deal if you lose early(unless you need a win or two to get in the Dance), but it's a big deal if you win it.

But I'M not playing in the games. The only hand I have in this is enjoying it if they're playing. The only thing that matters to me is the team is in the NCAA tourney, so everything else is just more enjoyment.

The players have other things going on that is a whole other world.

I'm not sure what you're attempting to say.

In this matter, to talk about the value of the B12 tournament to players and coaches, mostly following King McClure's comments that it just didn't matter to many of them.
Jerome Tang:

"Playing in this incredible event, disappointed in letting them (the fans down). I didn't do a good job preparing for how physical things are in the Big 12 tournament, that won't happen again."

Doesn't matter.

It's much easier for a player to say that a game didn't matter to him after he's already lost it. If any of his teams had won it (or if Baylor had ever won it at all), I'm guessing his story might change.

I'm always amazed at the fights you chose to pick and then continue instead of just letting them die. ISU fans love K.C. and the tourney and you just wanted to poke the hornet nest for something to do.
Not great, Bob. Too bad an undermanned TCU waxed your purple kitties. And yes, totally ad hominem, because sic semper trolluss!

King's Big 12 tourney career:

Semifinal loss (5 seed)
Quarters loss (3 seed)
Quarters loss (6 seed)
Quarters loss (4 seed)

Maybe when you go 1-4 in your career in tourney games you tell everyone they don't matter
