Does the B12 Tournament matter?

I've written from the start that this tournament matters to the fans and the coffers. Whether it does to the players and coaches is up for debate. King McClure said he had his doubts about the latter. Naturally, winning it is great for fan bravado.

We'll see how much it matters Sunday when you guys get shipped off to Albany instead of Des Moines because you dropped to a 4 seed.

Correct. Matchups are far, far more important than playing in Des Moines or NYC.
Matchups are important, yes- but playing close to home helps, too.

You think K-State coaches want to travel to Sacramento- be on pacific time and possibly play a 8PM local tip (10 PM Central)? Hell no- They'd much rather come up to dsm.

I ran into King McClure at Kelly's last night. He came up to me, big strong guy with tears in his eyes, and said "I was wrong about this tournament. The environment, the people, the camaraderie, it's all a perfect, beautiful manifestation of what college sports are about, especially now that all the K State fans are leaving."
