Iowa Beat Writers

Seems like the typical faux Hawk outrage over evil Iowa State. Add it to Locker Room Gate, Bandgate, #PrayersforCordell, and the numerous other slights that were blown way out of proportion by delicate Hawk fans and their lunatic fringe media.

He's so butthurt that he doesn't get a free ticket to the Sweet 16 now. Boo ******* hoo.
This. There are guys at minor radio stations and newspapers who get press passes for events just to go for free and provide pretty nonexistent coverage.

It's not ISU's responsibility to figure out who does or doesn't want a press pass.
He requested one? So ISU has to just drop an extra note requesting one for him. Also I think Hawkeye fans including Todd who went to Iowa and got a journalism degree is emotionally charged.

Not going to link the tweet, but looked him up. Now saying he'd accept an apology and no one is advocating for him. Waaaaaa! I'd like to know of he's every requested a credential from ISU before now, my guess is no. Now he has a free weekend because the overrated b1g tourney champs got bounced. He's probably getting what he wants though. People are talking about him.

Has he requested credentials for any other Iowa State game this year besides the Iowa one?

So, a few pages back regarding the media credentials, I chose to contact my good friend who ran P12 media credentials for 25+ years. Here's what he had to say. IMO, very interesting.
NCAA credential policies. You must be on team's media list from the beginning of the tournament. And a media member must have covered the team on a regular basis throughout the season. Not sure what the number is, but it's like 90 percent of all home games. I believe a team can only add a name from an outlet that's been approved. For example, the Des Moines Register Guard was approved for 2 media credentials for 1st/2nd rounds and wants to add a third for regionals, it could so. So, if some random fan site that covers the Hawkeyes during the year now wants to cover the Cyclones in the regionals, he's out of luck. https://www.ncaa.com/_flysystem/public-s3/images/2022/01/11/2021-22%20MBB%20Credentials%20Criteria_01_11_22.pdf

**** the Iowa fan boys in the press.

This isn't last century in which we had to bite our tongue because otherwise the program wouldn't get coverage. This is the NCAA tournament, any Iowa State fan or even viewer/reader interested in the tournament has a ton of other options available. At this point they need Iowa State basketball content more than Iowa State basketball needs them.

Well Todd might be in trouble then, because the whole basis was Iowa outlets who didnt go to Buffalo were able to go to Chicago, but they were pre approved for Buffalo, but KGYM was not pre approved for Milwaukee, and KGYM did cover the ISU bowl but the protocols were different, ISU could have pulled strings but where do you draw the line if the basis is just being a Cyclone Affiliate.

That makes a lot more sense. If Todd had been covering some of the games throughout the season, but couldn't make it to the first round, I could see granting him access.

Trying to get media access to a tournament game, when you haven't requested at all during the season seems un-reasonable.

I am not necessarily in team brommelkamp but unless there is a specific rule which seems to be fairly lost in translation just issue the damn thing.

Also @KidSilverhair PLEASE get KMRY to bid for it. I am pretty sure anything can beat 1600s broadcast range.
