Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

It will destroy basketball as well if we end up in a glorified American conference. Ultimately the revenue decline will effect are ability to keep good coaches and keep up with facilities. All things that matter to recruits. If you keep the rest of the Big 12 and add Memphis, Houston, etc. You are likely looking at a 3-4 bid league in 2024 or 2025 when the revenue shortfall begins to take effect.

Get an agreement to enter the Pac-16 by August 1, 2021 and just be done with it.

Oh I agree, and maybe jere needs to be taking this a little harder.

More teams for more teams sake may not work. The Big 12 has been saying that for a few years now and we all thought having a smaller league was working (most of us). It has to be the right teams!

You’re right it may not work. it’s a matter of deciding if doing nothing is sustainable over the next 5-10 years and if the Big Ten can sit by as the SEC expands and watch them rake in insane amounts of money, dominate contract negotiations with the networks, and dominate the playoffs. Adding teams probably won’t change that, but keeping status quo almost guarantees that. tOSU isn’t going to be happy in that scenario doing all the work and getting the same cut as Rutgers from the league.

tOSU has been recruiting at an insane level over the past three years, this move by the SEC would completely undercut that progress imo. Every 5 star and high 4 star will be in the SEC going forward, tOSU can’t live with that.

That may not mean **** for us. The only thing I’m saying is that I don’t think the Big Ten can be secure or stable staying as is. Their options are limited but they may have to go for those options.

The current Big East has zero football schools but yet is still a Power 6 basketball conference and is sending 60-70% of its teams to the tourney every year.

I honestly don’t see why Mizzou, TAM, Kentucky, SC, UT, Vanderbilt would want Texas and Oklahoma.

One huge power conference and forget about everyone else. Just a fookin joke CFB has become.
Eliah Drinkwitz just joked about questioning an SEC official about doing the horns down taunt.

Mizzou might be fine with Texas and OU joining in.

I'll disagree with you on this, the quality of the product you put on the field counts more than location. We have good viewership as someone pointed upthread our games last yr got pretty solid ratings. We aren't a name brand FB school yet, but we are a up and comer.
I actually partially agree with you. The quality of the product(s) increases the viewership. We just have a smaller, albeit rabid, pool to draw viewers than other candidates for realignment which in my opinion hurts our chances. That's all it is, my opinion, and I really hope I am wrong.

Why can't we have nice things?

Did Arkansas just become the fourth NO? :D
This. There’s no way Arkansas doesn’t play them both every year. Unless there’s a huge financial benefit or there’s some back water pressure being applied to them by other schools, you would have to think they vote no.

The Big 10 loves getting into **** measuring contests with the SEC. The SEC just whipped out their OU an UT dicks, and everybody is impressed.

The Big 10 is not going to whip out an ISU **** in response. I know that's not exactly what you're saying but people need to get real here.

What choice exactly does Jamie have? He's at the dance but the hot chick he brought is dancing with the Homecoming king now.
Yes I agree - we have/had no choice. Just objecting to all the vitriol and hate for the teams that left because of Texas. We would have done the thing if given an option. If the Big Ten had ever invited us, we'd have been gone in a second.

What **** does the B1G have to whip out? The Gold Domers don't want in. Does the B1g had a shortage of BDE?

How about the American? You do not understand how the lack of revenue works. The Big East schools don't have to support a Power 5 football team. The sheer about of money that it takes to field a competitive Power 5 football team (coaches, facilities, etc) cannot occur on a Group of 5 budget. It will trickle down to all sports and that will include most of the remaining Olympic sports being axed.
Pac 12 (16) or bust at this point.
